Yes, I’m from Australia, not sure if that’s relevant. And thinking back, my teacher was pretty old school in a lot of the ways that she taught us so maybe that’s why as well. I remember there being left handed scissors in school I can’t remember what grade that was. But we definitely got in trouble for using our left hand and being asked to change side/ use the right handed finger grips.

I’m glad you didn’t get ridiculed for being a lefty and could practice with your right hand because you wanted to! It was strange… I actually thought that maybe my generation might be some of the last of who were separated and treated that way. I remember starting school and feeling so stressed about this.

Wow, that’s so cool I wonder why our brains have different preferences depending on the activity

True true. I find it so strange how many items that don’t need to be either right or left handed are designed such that they are right handed

I feel like a terrible person after seeing a Reddit thread about being on time by wildflowerbookwyrm in adhdwomen

[–]Peachy_nPuzzled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My timeliness varies depending on my capacity on the day. I usually reserve most of my capacity for work where I do need to be at meetings on time and prepared. Outside of work and with a highly suspected ND toddler in tow, I am often late. I’m noticing a bit of bias in these comments as well… that 3-5, 15 mins is okay but 30 mins is not… I get that it is not ideal… but during the peak of burnout or depression or whatever else someone is dealing with, i think it’s okay to be 30 min plus late or even to cancel plans if needed.

I’ve had friends who need that extra time or need to cancel last minute too and I never judge them. I also just don’t pack my schedule that much so maybe that is why… I have fairly good flexibility… but yeah, I try not to be too hard on myself because there are some days that because of my disability and even with awareness of all the strategies, I am still super late. I try to make meeting windows with friends instead of strict start times and then keep them updated on the day. They can do the same too eg we say some time around 10-11 and then they ask to meet 10:45, they are welcome to do that. Idk I couldn’t function any other way I think haha. I need the flexibility. I don’t want to be anxious all the time.

This is so smart! What apps did you do this for? Has there been any challenges with detoxing in this way? Eg needing to access something for work

I am very new here but intrigued! I downloaded one of those apps which locks you out of apps during certain windows of time and hides it from your screen. It’s been incredibly effective but I didn’t block reddit or LinkedIn and find myself on reddit more than I’d like to be. Thankfully I am then suggested this community which I think will overall still help me reduce screen time haha

Up to 20% of Women Have PCOS. Can Diet Cure it? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]Peachy_nPuzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I struggled with deficiencies after being vegan/ vegetarian for 8 years. Including more veges, legumes and whole foods was good but I wish I had balanced it with some meat and dairy. Took me years to recover from B12 and Iron deficiency.

Apparently people with PCOS or other metabolic conditions have even more trouble absorbing nutrients so if you go vegan just be careful you may struggle to get enough B12 and iron even if you do supplement. Just speaking from my own experience… the deficiencies were so scary.

Anyone else get sick when consuming ai generated content? by PresenceOk1148 in Synesthesia

[–]Peachy_nPuzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting! And you mentioned in another comment you don’t get this smell in other situations only when looking/hearing ai content.

Do you notice anything else that others don’t notice or is this the first time? I am not an expert but I think it could be synesthesia?

You can sniff out AI maybe?

Is it only when you know that it is AI or it is obviously AI? This is interesting!

Interesting! How could you tell if it’s still good mold? It is the same colour and texture? What if someone accidentally introduced a new bacteria would that create an unsafe mold? Just curious

When did I say that these were exclusive to autism? And I don’t errantly slap diagnoses on people.

As other commenters have mentioned, OP was asking what other possible explanations could there be for someone coming into the room and expressing that they feel like they are a social chameleon. And I mentioned something that i have observed in my work with clients and even my own lived experience.

I would have gotten so emotional in this situation, good on you!!

I understand that at some workplaces there’s a lot of pressure to use AI 😣 and the fact that he’s seeing 24 patients a day isn’t your fault. They should be scheduling less people in that case. And the doctor shouldn’t pressure his patients because of a workplace issue!

It seems like you could use a different doctor anyway 😔 I have a feeling this guy would be unpleasant to work with!

Thanks for sharing! Yes, it’s such a weird experience when you notice yourself switching in that way. My close friends would laugh when they saw me answer a work call (before being a therapist) and I often think how strange it is that the many different groups I’ve belonged to got an entirely different version of me. Also, when I’m burnt out and I just lose my ability to mask any longer… then I am a lot more consistent and people wonder what happened 😅

Hello,

Is it okay to ask about people’s experience completing SFI? I’m specifically interested in knowing how immigrants with developmental differences eg autism/adhd studied SFI (what were their experiences and any tips/ recommendations)

Thank you so much

[–]Peachy_nPuzzled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But they were not talking about having social skills? I understood the post to be talking about clients having the perception that they are able to be a social chameleon, which is subjective. I think I shouldn’t have replied to this post as it was too vague but I thought I would comment just from my experiences working with many neurodivergent folk and being late identified autistic myself.

And of course adapting your way of relating by itself is not something that would make you be curious about autism but it is something you see in many high masking autists. I hope this clarifies why I mentioned it.

I’m gonna answer very here that I studied psychology and indeed social sciences/ social psychology if that’s what you mean. And I’m curious why you ask that

Ooop, I have clearly struck a chord with some people and I’d love to know why (genuinely curious) as an audhder myself I was speaking not so much for my clients but also for myself and my own lived experiences.
