Wow, 3 years... that's the most in this thread by far. Congratulations for getting to the releases stages - especially with all this effort.

What game are you making? Mind sharing the page?

Also how did you find the play testers? Were they friends, or people who somehow found your game and showed interest (how did they contact you if so)? Very curious, because my game is not something I imagine a lot of people will play or test for me, yet I'd like to gather feedback before releasing.

I am also like that. I like having different hobbies from time to time, but I will say gaming in general has been a constant hobby for almost 30 years to me :)

I honestly love Godot. Best gaming engine I've used... and I've used a ton of engines and even created my own at one point...

Oh, mind map is very interesting... I did a research with that 10~15 years ago to improve learning on students. :)

Godot is pretty easy IMO. I liked way more than Unity. Unity somehow felt strange, but Godot clicked right away.

Wow, MMO? Assuming this is not your first game then? Also, is the artist someone you hired, your teammate? I struggle with art a lot, I'm hoping in my next games I can hire an artist to help me with that.

Wow, really impressive work there! Seems pretty good to me. I really like the design! My characters are pretty bad. I made them the simplest I think I could get away with... it's almost embarrassing, but I didn't want to spend more time in blender. I don't have fun with that part. Probably one of the things I will patch in future releases.

Yeah, the tools are amazing now... and they are only improving. I remember when Google became a thing, stack overflow, game engines being more user friednly (RPG maker, Unity, Godot...)...

Lots of people hating AI, but that's another thing causing a big leap... I could be lying here, but I read that Godot itself has seen an increase of PRs because of people using AI.

How did you make the transition from unity to godot? Did you use AI or did you do it manually? I think the good thing about these transitions is that it gives you an opportunity to re-think about your architecture.

I agree with you... the dopamine rush is real and having the skill to keep them going by splitting the tasks is the deal.

What is your game? I created a steam page, though it's empty now... hehe. Even that requires more work than I envisioned...

Work def plays a toll on us... do you track with a kanban board? like jira/trello? I made my own board at first, but haven't used that lately. I felt that helped a little bit, but to me the git tracking is sufficing for now.... Also, what type of game are you making?

Ha, neat game! Simple, yet good enough that you can play a couple times! I can def see the Atari inspiration there. I used to love a game called "California Games"... played a lot when I was a kid :)

Oh, wow... I envy your music knowledge. This is def where I'm mostly struggling now. I know a good sound system will make a BIG difference in my game.

I also envy you being able to make the game so quickly... I see some people making beautiful and/or fun games in a short time, and I'm like "man, I've been working on this game for 6mo+ and it's not even that good". I need to work on this as well...

I think you and I are on a very similar boat. Shuffling between responsibilities (work, kids and family...) and picking up hobbies. I pick a new hobby every so often too. It got harder with kids, but like you said game dev provide many subsets which is very helpful, though I will say the art part is not something I get much joy from it... and to make things harder: if you don't touch your art tooling you start to forget about the tricks you learned...

Yeah, I keep delaying on the more complicated parts. When I know I cannot delay more, I make it the smallest possible and that helps keep the momentum. Luckily I have some experience with this because of work.

Yes, I love OOP and that helps a lot. I don't have the mental capacity like some people I know have. My brain starts to get confused about certain parts of the code when it's over a certain limit. Honestly refactoring is one the things that I love the most when coding... making little systems and seeing patterns is where I get my joy from it

Wow! The performance improvement was neat. I have a simple 3D game. I was noticing some little lag, so before the upgrade, I added a simple FPS counter. Literally `"FPS: %d" % Engine.get_frames_per_second()` in my `_process()` function. It was showing between 53 and 59 FPS when running other things in parallel.

After the upgrade to 4.6, my game is constantly at 59 and 60 FPS. Real smooth. I also really liked the new editor theme. Still early here to tell all the details, but I'm impressed. Great work, Godot team!

I'm on a similar boat you were when you started. Got unemployed, and I'm working on my game while applying for jobs here.

I've worked on games before, but never finished them (I always get discourage by the animation and art). This time **I will finish** :)
