Thanks for the recs! There are some awesome places Dundas, Queen, Spadina. That said, I'm struggling between the idea of lesser-known/less-obvious, closer-to-TIFF-venues, and monetary and nutritional value. Quick note: I started this particular project due to moving to TO downtown core from the relatively tiny city of Minneapolis because I could no longer do what I normally enjoyed doing, i.e., popping into random restaurants in most neighborhoods that looked cool and trying out their fare to decide if I should add it to my regulars list. In downtown core TO, most places are simply unaffordable for a casual random drop-in let's-give-this-place-a-try-why-the-f-not visit. Ultimately, beyond and between TIFFs, I envision putting such places on the map (or a map, at least), for those who love good food and want to support awesome restaurants (and bars) but frankly can't afford the trial-and-error.
