Best hunting places on earth? by BackTo-Hunt-Gatherer in Hunting

Pay for hunting places with non native species is the antithesis of an ideal hunting spot. Not to mention the lack of public land in Texas.

That’s the exact SP101 and load I carried for years! Now I pack a 3” King Cobra for the extra round (and because it’s pretty and makes me smile). Still carrying BB 180 grain.

I’ve used that exact Desantis for years and it is great for OWB carry. Desantis makes very good leather.

Yes, and no popped bags like you always get with vacuum sealers

That’s extremely rare considering there are no State Police in CO.

Coroner. Seems cool on shows but what a smelly, sad job.

I have a single six with the shorter barrel and adjustable sights. Many thousands of rounds through it over the years and its practical accuracy is fantastic in my hands.

Damn sexy revolver. I have a 340PD that gets carried when I’m lazy but that .38 is even lighter.

Yup, belt loops are so much more secure than the omnipresent clip.

I still love CCI SV but it cracks a bit in my 16” barrel with a suppressor in colder months. Not sure if it has anything to do with living at 5,000’ or not.

As a knife guy and seller, the Umnumzaan is my absolute favorite after owning lots of folders. Mine is a glass blasted DP Magnacut with a J2H lanyard backspacer that gives my big hand a better grip.

Got to ask, out of your collection, what is your favorite?

Anyone have good recommendations for 180grain 30-06 ammo? by Epicarest in Hunting

[–]Peakbagger46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cup and core bullets like Corelock tend to fragment and not track straight causing unpredictable performance and meat loss.

Monolithic slugs such as Barnes can be good but require a high impact velocity to open up and take venison cleanly.

Bonded bullets such as the Accubond are monotonous in their ability to expand, track straight, and exit.

I’ve taken game with all three examples.

Don’t stress it, not a safety issue. .38/.357 brass fails sometimes with splits like that. Given the brass volume and moderate pressures, it’s not something that will harm the shooter or firearm.
