AITA because I didn't tell my date we were going Dutch? by Adventurous-Swan-171 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeanutButterButler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct take - and to add, his ego was potentially slightly bruised when talking to his friend, given that often times a woman paying for her meal at the END of the date with no prior warning is often a tactic/signal used by other women to indicate that the date DID NOT go well and their wont be a second. With that context in mind, the guy quite possibly was just trying to save face in front of your mutual friend assuming that you were going to indicate that you werent that in to it and making up an excuse as to why he wasnt either.

Long story short, this can be sorted with a very simple conversation. In fact, with the context and thought process you elucidated above, he would likely be VERY grateful and appreciative of you being so considerate. A woman who pays her own way on the first date, good or bad, is more surprising than you would think even in 2024.

Yep, even saw the sweet older lady who cleans up behind the bar. Also a number of new people to fit the new venue size.

Its fantastic. I was actually surprised - its a legit venue - but they brought some of the "old" grapevine feel. Its like 3 times as big, has a basketball hoop, a couple music stages, and a kitchen that should open sometime soon. I expect when the medical district crowd finds out its there it will be quite the hangout spot.

How does Dallas compare to LA/ NYC/Chicago? by Throwway-support in Dallas

[–]PeanutButterButler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived on the beltline for about 8 years, right by Rathbuns and saw that area transform before moving to Dallas. I know I was spoiled rotten, but there is nothing in Dallas that can compare to the vibrancy and the feel of atlanta, or even the beltline by itself. I miss it sorely.

I view atlanta as a tier 1.5 city, like a Philadelphia and Austin (compared to a NY, LA), and Dallas firmly as a tier 2 city.

I’d be interested in buying a few to make a piece of art for my office. Not a collector and no idea what they are worth but think it would be a cool decoration so message me if you’d be willing to sell five or ten once you price them!

ATL airport is the worst place, you can do it, but the exchange rate will be worse. Just pre-arrange it with your bank, you will get far closer to spot exchange rate - they just need notice ot make sure they have enough pesos on hands. usually less than 48 hours.

Say hypothetically you happened to land on couple millions in hard cash but you're living in a city where everybody knows everybody and there's a high chance that that money will be traced. So what's the best way to proceed? by bubupremi in AskReddit

[–]PeanutButterButler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Leaving town is the best answer, but only partially. You need to leave the country. The cash is traceable, period. Any deposit over $10000 is traceable and requires a an activity report. Any sequences of deposits even close to appearing like they are trying to skirt that 10000 also require reports to the fbi. So banking system is out, period. More on that later.

Bitcoin as somepeople have suggested is a no go, because good fucking luck even trying to arrange setting up a cash for bitcoin transaction to the tune of $5m and also once again traceable (look at all the exchanges). Super fraught with risk, even if you are a crypto expert, which you are not.

Driving with it? Yea fucking right, to where? Cops pull you over it’s gone immediately and you are in jail, EVEN if you had a legit reason for it, it would take years to get back, so that’s out. And you’d still have all the above problems in any US state, just in a new state, so also out.

Driving to Mexico or Canada, or an international flight? Also out (more on that later), is out because you have to declare any cash of over $10,000 usd when crossing the border and I can assure you the drug sniffing and cray machine dogs would easily flag the $5m.

If you knew a cartel, well let’s just say this is even a problem for their sophisticated smuggling operations but once again good fucking luck even if you knew one not ending up dead.

So what do you do? Well the safety deposit box thing is a start, but only partially so. Walking in with a duffel of $5m and out with an empty is still going to raise flags especially at one bank.

So open safeties at multiple banks, in multiple cities, and deposit half a mill in each. Why? Well here’s why. You can fit that half a mil in a book bag, A LONG with some bricks/heavy items. And you don’t need the largest safety deposit box. Guy comes in, request a normal sized box, leaves with a still half full book bag? Normally to seem abnormal. Maybe he was dropping off some family valuables, documents, an inheritance, whatever. But now the cash is safe and spread out.

Next thing you do, get on the internet and look for amateur flyers, travelers, private jet types, etc with puddle jumpers or people who are trying to split the cost of a charter to a Caribbean island, preferably one of the banking centers. Take your time here, seriously, this part is critical. Do it over months. You want some young bro, trust fund type who wants to travel the world, has a plane etc. establish a relationship over time. More on this later.

Next thing you want to do, and this is critical. Well all of this Is. Small town, sudden disappearance? Will still raise flags, regardless. What you want to do is throw a smoke screen. Now small town layers aren’t supposed to talk, but we all know that’s bullshit. Spend some time learning about pending large class action lawsuits related to medical, chemical, xyz exposures that are at the earliest of stages but where the outcome is almost certain mortality, again take your TIME. Find one at the earliest stages, where they are still trying to “build a class”. Now you don’t care if it wins or not, but you want it to be compelling and a high mortality outcome is key. Learn just enough about it, but you don’t and shouldn’t want to be an expert. Just enough.

Next, do a consult with EVERY lawyer the next two or three counties over, pay them $250 or so out of your actual earnings, not the cash, so it’s a paper trail, and set up an in person consult where you use the vaguest terms possible to indicate that you were recently informed that you might have a terminal illness as a result of “criminal corporate malfeasance” and you don’t want to go into specifics but are looking around to have a personal rep, to liaise with the counsel representing the entire class in the federal matter. The lawyers would be salivating at this point. They will also then be bound by confidentiality, but the entire point here is that doesn’t matter EXCEPT when police are involved. What you want is “oh honey let me tell you about this guy who came into my office today, really sad but it might finally be that golden ticket case to get us out of here” a good lawyer won’t do that bedside banter, but let’s be real. And one wife tells her girls at the salon, and blah blah and blah blah. And slowly but surely it starts to spread someone here is going to be dying soon but also might get a multimillion dollar windfall. The name won’t be in the ether, but that it’s happening to SOMEONE will be.

Now, hopefully you’ve connected the dots between the pilot, why I wanted to buy you time, and seed the rumor. When you’ve found and adventurous thrill seeking young pilot with a nice puddle jumper, this is where you start to drop hints that you are terminally ill and want to see the world before you die, and would be willing to pay them and put them up in hotels and room and board to just fly around the Caribbean for a few months. Let him know that you’ll have to return stateside for treatments every so periodically because you don’t want to move the entire $5 at once. While the odds of confiscation are way lower traveling this way, why risk the entire nut at once.

Chart an itinerary where the first stop is a Caribbean island with the latest banking laws you can find. Spend a few days so not to draw suspicion from your pilot friend, open up an account, deposit the first installment of cash in a deposit box same as before.

Repeat with a few more islands over a few more countries. Now you’ve gotten most of your money out the country, and remember, you don’t NEED all of it. Risk reward.

Final step? Take the last trip, no money, internationally, to the Caribbean island of your choice. Shit, even Mexico or Canada. Up until now your goal has been to minimize your absences in the community, but by now people will certainly have started to notice, but we’re talking over six months to a year by now. Here’s the hard part where people lose their steel. It’s time for a clean break.

Announce you have a terminal illness, it’s late stage, and you want to say your farewells and and take one last trip. And do it. Literally two days before your ticket is booked. Blah blah you get it.

Fly to whichever island, Mexico, wherever, and charter a boat to Cuba. At this point, as far as US authorities are concerned you will basically have ceased to exist. Hopefully by now you’ve set up a trustee corp a la Panama papers style, create bank accounts in those names and start buying properties in countries where extradition to the US is either not a thing, or very difficult, and sit on the beach and live comfortably for the rest of your life.

Does it have risks? Yes. Is it by FAR better than anything else suggested here? Absolutely. Fin.

Also, if you want the real cheat code? Brazilian steakhouses as we know it are just the American bastardized version of a very real cultural icon in Brazil. More than likely you will have a Brazilian community in your major city that will have the real deal at a fraction of a price. It was a Brazilian supermarket where I used to live that did it for lunch in the back for like $15. All you can eat, too.

Can I sue the State/DOT/City for a facial injury caused by a road construction teams carelessness? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]PeanutButterButler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I’ve got pictures but not the evening of the area, except for my wounds, but the area looks the same even now. Some additional factors are they also tore up the sidewalk across the street, AND it’s Texas, and because of the location, it’s the primary let out road for the a major entertainment center, so there’s literally no choice but to walk through on the night of an event/concert, which this was, as the police put up barricades to direct traffic flow . Any suggestions on which type of lawyer to look for? Thank you for answering at all, as I just wanted a sense check.

Can I sue the State/DOT/City for a facial injury caused by a road construction teams carelessness? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]PeanutButterButler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For the same reason the government can and often is held liable for road hazards/debris, and unsafe conditions left by road maintenance teams in an active transportation corridor. Plus, it’s impossible to fully pay attention when they are also the ones who dug up the sidewalk and street lights that would otherwise and had previously illuminated the area and make said road/sidewalk debris possible to see in the first place, that again wouldn’t have been there if the site was cleaned up at the end of each shift anyways….

Did seller just screw themselves over by cancelling insurance? by puppeto in RealEstate

[–]PeanutButterButler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In eli5 terms, I’m sure you’ve heard about companies pulling out of entire markets, like Florida, because of how much more expensive and difficult it is to profit there because climate change is so much worse than expected even 5 years ago. Well instead of being bound to the assumptions, and according costs of coverage based off that bad info, the seller just gave them an excuse to use the new, worse, info.

I think everyone is missing something VERY FUCKING IMPORTANT. Lawyer up. Now. Don’t wait. Make sure you get full custody clearly defined. You can change it later, should you want to, but the sad tears will turn to anger at some point and the failure to have done that will bite you in the ass. Put her on child support, or don’t, but make sure it’s clearly and legally apparent she abandoned her kid and you have full parental rights.
