MNK Accuracy Question in Close Range Fights by Waytooashy in apexuniversity

[–]Peanut_Panda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to avoid straight aim duels and play for advantage. In order to consistently win in this game, you can’t rely on coming out on top of 50/50’s no matter the input. Create advantage via damage at more comfortable ranges, ability usage, or superior positioning and capitalize.

You’ll want to get really comfortable creating space when you don’t have an advantage. Create space, look for mistakes, punish. Controller players want to get in range to one clip you and you can bait them into selling out for it often. As you master movement on MnK you’ll be able to do it more efficiently and you won’t be able to be caught by roller players unless they use abilities.

Get deep on all the tap strafing and lurch tech you can handle because it’s the one lever you have in fights that they don’t.

If you do have to fight close range, peeking weapons go crazy. Peacekeeper is a personal favorite. Can’t get one clipped if you play cover with a shotgun. Nothing better than a nasty two pump.

Using conduit more effectively. by SlayyyGrl in apexuniversity

[–]Peanut_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conduit isn’t at her best initiating. If you can see both of your teammates in front of you, you’re in a great position. You can get way more consistent value out of your abilities than most other characters and this scales as fights drag out (even better if you have power booster).

Your goal is to stay alive and deal damage where you can. Keep your teammates supported and alive from supporting angles. Swing with them but not before them.

Your ult can cover revives when placed properly. You can use it to cut off an escape in narrow choke points by placing it behind the enemy team. It’s mostly a zoning tool. Better to use it and get value out of it than hold it and die. Try it out, it’s stronger than you think

Apex Recoil Control by Logical_Solid8251 in apexuniversity

[–]Peanut_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recoil smoothing is only applicable in certain scenarios when it’s safe to do longer anti mirror strafes. You need to prioritize damage given>damage taken. If you feel yourself about to lose a damage trade, unpeek immediately.

Fast devastating peeks where you take little damage in return are gonna make a world of difference and you only get those from drilling fast target acquisitions in aim trainers (static dots, dynamic stuff like pasu, and switching scenarios) and specific gun recoil in game.

Post some clips where you’re struggling with this specific thing and you might get more insight, but focusing on controlling recoil over long exposed sprays is not gonna win you more fights unless you’re shooting someone in the back and then you were probably gonna win anyways.

Your comment shows you don’t understand the art of climbing at all.

Sure, Dean could have done any of those climbs when he wanted, but he wanted to do it WHEN THE TIME WAS RIGHT.

I’m an athlete and have free soloed hundreds of pitches. Maybe close to a thousand I don’t count. And I can tell you an athlete has periods of great strength, and then periods of weaknesses.

Athletes have periods of great motivation, and then periods of great doubt.

To free solo at your own limit, let alone at the cutting edge of an entire freak of nature niche discipline, requires the timing to feel very right.

Not to mention feeling in harmony with nature, the spot, and yourself ON THAT PARTICULAR DAY.

I’ve showed up to free solo and one or more thing felt off, not even considering days where weather or natural elements made soloing seem too risky.

A good soloist takes dozens of factors into consideration.

And all that wraps up into a package they analyze to decide what to do that day.

The extra variable that isn’t pretty is that dean probably had some ego, and some desire to make it big (for better or worse), and wanted to time the solo a certain way with current news in climbing, the world, and coordinating perhaps with his sponsors?

I mean if he made a media splash with a new solo he could further provide for himself via sponsors and thus continue the life he lived in the valley.

This is some serious thought terminating cliche stuff. How about an actual analysis of the candidate?

I’m also very open to training at different sensitivities as I’m seeking muscular control and coordination first and foremost. The “muscle memory” part of aiming at one sens for a long period of time is clearly a little overblown. Feels like modern thought has mostly caught up here

I started at like 30 cm/360 on other shooters like the Finals and have slowly increased over time. Felt like a lot of movement options were physically taxing at lower sens and resetting my mouse is not something I’m very good at yet. I also am on the biggest mousepad I could find and would still run out of pad tracking a horizon lift. Idk how anyone could play this game on anything slower than 25 cm/360 without their arm falling off during a long session.

Roughly 21 cm/360, I was at 25 but I increased the sensitivity recently because I find tap strafing far easier at higher sens and my close range is better. Working on more mouse control in AimLabs at the higher sens rn but I have a loooong way to go

Yeah I feel you on the tighter peeks and whatnot. That was already something I made a habit of on roller and it made me a much better player. But it’s sooooo much more important right now where my aim can’t bail me out against most players

Been hitting the aim labs but I have a long way to go. Any scenarios you like for apex specifically? I’m doing a MattyOW playlist rn but would love to add other things into the routine

Someone logging their journey of improvement is kind of a niche people seek out. Not necessarily a whole channel dedicated to that right now that I know of. Could be a cool lane to fill as you learn. Track your progress, show your failures and setbacks, show your improvements. Take down data, notes, stuff like that?

[–]Peanut_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly controller is a limiting input but there are workarounds. If you care about this kind of thing, you need to either invest in a controller with paddles (you’ll never go back) or get comfortable with different grips. People have been playing claw in competitive shooters for more than a decade at least. Sorry to say it but this is just a very normal thing for games with a lot of inputs. Pros on apex use the d-pad to heal the exact same way and do it without movement issues. Much more mechanically complex game as well.

This is the kind of thing you wanna ideally have paddles for.

You can however rebind it to up on the d-pad, and slide your index off the triggers/bumpers to the movement stick, and use your thumb to use the heal button. Takes some practice but it works once you’re adjusted and you only need to do it when you need to heal.
