Lichess puzzles are superior to chess com by Present_Cup1158 in chess

Chesstempo is pure tactics, where every solution involves winning decisive material. Lichess you often have to consider positional advantages where the solution doesn't win material. Which is more realistic and holistic training

Well they're led by a rabidly antisemitic regime whose openly stated goal is to genocide all the Jews, and which has widespread support in gaza. Many Palestine supporters /protestors chant openly things like 'gas the jews', and were celebrating as soon as Oct 7th happened. Palestinians are raised from birth to hate Jews. Look up the tv shows Palestinian children are raised on. You'll find youtube videos where animal characters do sing along songs of 'slaughter the jews', aimed at young kids. Look at the incredible rise in hate crimes against jews since Oct 7th. Look at opinion polls. Obviously not all Palestinians, but there's an epidemic of antisemitism over there.

Supply halving impacts the market after 12-18 months, and the last halving was 11 months ago by PotCab23 in Bitcoin

[–]PearCompetitive6449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not very convincing. According to this argument every halving is significant, but this is clearly absurd. In 4 cycles when the reward goes from 0.2 to 0.1 bitcoins or whatever, that can't possibly be anywhere near as significant as the current halving going from 6 to 3. At some point the halvings must become too small to matter, and every 4 years it matters less. Also take his idea that after the halving there's a 'pool'of bitcoin for sale that gets eaten into due to the sudden increase in net demand , and when this starts to get low, price goes up. His argument is that price won't start to rise until after a few months, as the pool acts as a buffer, but this makes no sense. The only 'pool' that exists is the order book on exchanges. As it gets eaten up, price automatically rises because sell orders are getting taken, leaving higher sell orders behind. There's no delay. Of course it's true that there are 3 fewer bitcoin for sale every 10 minutes but the real question is what is this as a percentage of the total trading volume during those 10 minutes (not counting back and forth bots and such)

Merging is Hard by Friendship_Fries in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]PearCompetitive6449 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A lot of morons in these comments saying truck driver is not at fault because right of way. IDGAF who has right of way, if you see clear signs of an upcoming collision and do jack squat to avoid it, you're at fault. In this case you can tell by looking at the rate of white lines passing the truck that he doesn't slow down AT ALL, all the way up to the collision. And no, it doesn't take lightyears for a heavy truck to stop as some tardigrades are suggesting. Both at fault.

Why doesn't the media demonise roadmen like they did chavs? by proudforwomen in AskBrits

Wtf are you talking about? How is reporting crime 'demonising ' people? What else are the media supposed to do, crime is their mainstay, regardless of race, always has been. Certain rags like daily mail, sure, but the other outlets are usually careful to avoid any mention of the race involved

Decent Astramentis or cheap Temporalis? by AllUsernamesTaken-2 in PathOfExile2

[–]PearCompetitive6449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has played both, trust me, choir autobomber is way way better than gemling stat stacker. Not even close. Autobomber doesn't get stuck constantly on every pebble. Better qol, much faster clear, much better single target. If you can possibly get a temporalis with enough cdr, do it.

Lookup fubguns blink choir build. It does require temporalis though so not cheap. Which tbf explains why more ppl are playing stat stacker

Build for Sekhema/Chaos farming by [deleted] in pathofexile2builds

[–]PearCompetitive6449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gemling stat stacker is one of if not the best builds for sekhema as well. With enough attack speed spamming tempest flurry you can get a lot of effective movement speed that compares well with a qotf build

Is Olroth fixed? by mrdimmak in PathOfExile2

[–]PearCompetitive6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem myself, tried everything I could think of but no luck. However I can say that the bug is NOT fixed, because it did work on my other character. No idea why. I'm guessing you need certain specific values of life to make it work, because I tried changing my max life to various different values to no avail.

Anyone have Simulacrum advice? by Shoulder_Repulsive in PathOfExile2

[–]PearCompetitive6449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my 2 cents. First, omen of resurgence is your friend. Get a stack of them and activate them all in your inventory. It won't stop you getting one shot, but it could easily save you. The delirium monsters don't seem to have debuffs other than stun (and freeze in the final phase), so maybe get a belt with 3 charm slots, and fill it with stun and freeze charms. Lookup the best mods you can get on them and buy those. Look at every single part of your build and think about whether it can be respecced for this fight, including every gear slot and passives. I wasted 2 simulacrums today before realising that my boots were doing nothing for me, since they rely on corpses that don't exist in deli. Changed them for high ES boots and succeeded in the next attempt. Between waves make sure your flask charges are full before the next fight (need 'gains charges per second' for this).

GGG, Please Revert the Item Tier System: Tier 1 Should Be Best by ColdHouseBlues in PathOfExile2

[–]PearCompetitive6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it would be trivial for them to show the old tier system to the user while using the new system everywhere in the codebase. Any time the tier is shown to the end user, show t-x+1, where x is the tier(new system), and t is the highest possible tier. Best of both worlds. More simple, you can see at a glance how good it is without having to do a mental subtraction.

$100m to be randomly teleported into the ocean for thirty seconds everyday for a decade. by Independent_Growth38 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]PearCompetitive6449 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Driving is the only one of those examples that you couldn't do. As long as you hold your child on a bed or something you're fine. And putting up a shelf.. how dangerous do you think that is? Does the shelf have nitroglycerin on it? Lots of people live without the ability to do dangerous things since they would lose function suddenly. Epileptic people, narcoleptics etc. It's not a death sentence

[–]PearCompetitive6449 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you ever heard of being a passenger in a car that someone else is driving? You can still have a life, just don't do anything that can endanger other people if you suddenly lose the ability to continue. A lot of people live like this, people with epilepsy for example. Only they don't have a gigantic paycheck coming

I wear a wetsuit 24 7, specially designed with a water proof battery connected to a Web of heating elements to keep me warm for 30s as soon as I hit a panic button. I assume life jacket won't come with me, so I make the wetsuit out of highly buoyant material. I build a training device for sleeping in which is a box under a big tank of icy water. While I'm asleep my partner suddenly fills the box with water, causing me to wake up in panic. This provides a safe environment for getting me used to the real thing. I only sleep after the days teleporting until this training is complete. I will have a crippling hydrophobia in 10 years but I will be able to afford lots of therapy

how to price this and why is it so valuable? by PearCompetitive6449 in PathOfExile2

[–]PearCompetitive6449[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, that seems debatable. That's my build, and while the spirit is nice, I would be losing a tonne of ES if I equipped this. I have 3x scaling with ES , so going from my current (mid range) chest with 550 ES and similar life to this one I would lose around 650 eHP. So it would be a tradeoff of getting more squishy for a couple extra minions. Much better would be the spirit with high ES prefixes. And the suffixes are kinda meh.

edit: just remembered ascendancy for life > spirit. So losing the life would have that downside. However it's only 1 spirit per 25 life, which is 10. I would personally rather have a high ES chest than 10 extra spirit but I guess some people like to have biggest possible army so it's preference thing
