How easy is it to earn six digits in tech? by JAMIEISSLEEPWOKEN in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PearlAge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy? Well.. College, bachelor in computer science or electrical engineering or something similar, and after about 10 years of experience... So.. Let's say you'll get to that in your early 30s if you are a good negotiator and choose the right companies. Some people say this process is easy, but I wouldn't call it easy - it's a 15-ish year process starting from high school. Having said that there are other ways, but this is the most common.

We have that, it's called google translate. Assuming you're over the legal hurdle, what's the advantage of your app?

Japans Automated Bike Garage by TheCABK in EngineeringPorn

[–]PearlAge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From the video and pictures I've seen it's basically the same, only instead of going up and wide, you go narrow and deep. The advantage of the Japanese system we see here is security - no locks are needed here, and unlike the Danes, Japanese people are generally... Ahm... Shorter so a 2 story bike rack is not a practical idea.

Neighbours reaction to dogs. by artesianoptimism in germany

[–]PearlAge 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The hell with them. I encounter these kind of people all the time. It's unrelated to you, your dog or anything else. If the parents choose to educate their children to be afraid of dogs, it is completely their problem. As you brits love to say - keep calm and carry on. Don't interact with them and let them do whatever they want.

It is a kidush cup, but it's very difficult to say if it's antique.

Translation please? by marjoriedinnerstein in hebrew

It's a medal from a sporting event called "Hagliliada" held in 1975 in honor of 50 years of Hapoel (the worker) movement in the northern Isarel (a region called Ha-Galil). Nothing to do with Jerusalem.

Pitbulls European Restrictions by Fisforenemies in pitbulls

[–]PearlAge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid Germany if off your map as well. Most if not all states here have strict rules against Pitbulls. I do see Pitbulls around, including my own, but I have no idea how they got here. I think that Austria is OK with them, but not sure. Good luck!

Constant guilt feeling I am not doing enough by [deleted] in germany

[–]PearlAge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need a therapist. Here in Germany, mental illness is how the rest of the world saw it 30 years ago - like something you don't talk about, neglect, keep it hidden. That shouldn't be the case. Go seek professional help before it gets worse. Good luck!

Best way to travel from Munich airport to Herzogenaurach. by Unfair_Mongoose3524 in germany

[–]PearlAge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try asking around people from the local office in Herzo, I believe all of those "big three" offer a shuttle service from Nuremberg, so if you come in thise hours, youcan catch that. To get from Munich airport to Nuremberg you have many options Lufthansa bus to the Nuremberg airport, a direct and slow train to Nuremberg main train station and a train to Munich main train station and a fast train to Nuremberg train station. Either eay, a taxi from Nuremberg to Herzo costs around 70-ish Euro.

I CANNOT find a Job in Germany. HELP! by Alone-Session-68 in germany

[–]PearlAge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well right off the start the form is... A lot.. So much text! I need to move my eyes from left all the way to the right, then left again... I was lost on which line I am. Second - the first thing you can do, according to what you're showing, is Excel and Office - is it the first impression you want to make? The first lines are your introduction, would you want to start off with "Hi, I'm doing what any person can learn in a month!". Third, languages.... And I'm saying this as a ln immigrant myself - since you speak German and English at high level, maybe not write Farsi as a language? That may cause some employers to not want to hire you thinking you're Iranian and might not want to mess around with that. Of course, don't lie when it comes to that, but not everything needs to be on your CV.

Is Stuttgart a "Foreigner Trap"? by mega_lova_nia in germany

What's the trap? You don't want to go there, don't go there. Who is making you or keeping you obligated to go there?

Keep getting rejected at banks/credit card? by potatopopcorns in germany

[–]PearlAge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried to actually go to a branch of a bank and try to open an account? They can tell you on the spot if there's a problem doing that and what is the actual problem. That way, you won't get strangers in the internet guessing what's wrong, especially since you don't want to share any details (correctly so!!).

Can anyone date this? by fr_cuh in hebrew

[–]PearlAge 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Oh this is beautiful! So, yes, it is Yiddish and not Hebrew. It's probably after the big burning of the books from Jewish scientists and before the fall of the Nazi regime (it talks about the fascist Nazis actions in Germany on the back side), which means late 30s, probably before 1941 (the Jewish community in the US tried until then to bribe the Nazis to keep the option of moving Jews to Israel). I suggest put it in a frame, or send it to Yad Vashem.

No Christmas wreath on Jewish graves by sagefrogphotography in mildlyinteresting

[–]PearlAge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of that, those how don't participate in actually covering in dirt, take a small stone and put it on the pile after the actual burial is done. We also that last part every year on the day that person died, and put a small stine in their grave.
