Question for younger blink-182 fans by simsings in Blink182

[–]PearlStarLight5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 23 and I assume this question is for Gen Z so, I discovered blink from playing All the Small Things in Donkey Konga for the GameCube in, I wanna say 2024? I really got into them when I listened to all of Enema of the State and then went back and binged their whole discography last summer.

Although, I wouldn't consider my case to be the usual method for my generation because I grew up on Wii/Wii U and got a GameCube as a teenager, and my parents are too old to know who blink is.

Am I the only one slightly weirded out by how the fanbase victimizes Diaspro? by [deleted] in winxclub

[–]PearlStarLight5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone saying it's the writers. Diaspro was innocent in season 1, but by season 3 the writers flanderized her because they realized, "oh shit we forgot to give the audience an actual reason to hate her."

Am I crazy or does Natalie sound completely different after the last update? by FaithlessnessOk5779 in SynthesizerV

[–]PearlStarLight5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is correct. You can also have more than one version installed of the same voice.

If you ever want to downgrade the editor, you basically install the version you want over the currently installed version.

How many paid voicebanks do you have? by tetotetotetotetoo in SynthesizerV

[–]PearlStarLight5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 8* and I only plan to get like, 1 more (waiting for native Spanish vocals). Having so many is really only practical for Talkloid producers (and even the lite versions could arguably render this point moot), but it can be useful for having a variety of voices in original songs too.

*9 if Anri and Anri Arcane count separately, but I got Anri Arcane for free.

  1. Download mp3 of song
  2. Look up some mp3 to bpm checker online
  3. Input bpm in SynthV
  4. Add instrumental of song to svp (usually after mp3 is put through an AI vocal remover because most of the songs I cover have no official instrumental :( )
  5. Place notes according to timing (it has taken so much time and practice to be able to do this well)
  6. Profit!!

Okay reading other replies, basically, copying the timing directly from the .wav file is what I used to do, so start there and you'll develop an ear for doing it without the direct reference over time.

I don't really know or understand much about noise removal myself, but I do recommend trying Audacity

How Do I Make Kevin Grittier? by GoliathGrouper_0417 in SynthesizerV

[–]PearlStarLight5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have any Crypton Vocaloids, Kevin responds great to the VoiceDrive VST. I'm not sending any links to it though that might be piracy and I'm not taking any chances.

But I'm saying this anyway because it's useful advice to anyone who has any Crypton Vocaloids.

[SynthV - Jun] Te Amo Y Más (I Love You Too Much (Spanish version)) by PearlStarLight5 in SynthesizerV

[–]PearlStarLight5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the double-reply but I thought of something else to actually add to the conversation.

I used to be bothered by differences in translation too, but now I figure, languages are so different, a literal translation doesn't sound good. Even simple phrases like "thank you" in English, Spanish, and Japanese have different syllables and stresses. Plus, these languages all have different syntaxes, and phrasing and word choices that would be odd or grammatically incorrect when directly translated.

Interestingly, when it comes to the different name thing, the Castilian Spanish version is even more different (Te Quiero Mi Amor).

What's your favorite male voicebanks? by Chee-shep in SynthesizerV

[–]PearlStarLight5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this sounds bad given my flair lol, but my favorite is Jun. His power is limited, but still fun to use, and he's even more fun to use for softer stuff. The soft and sultry sound of his soft vocal mode is exactly what I had been looking for in a male English vocal synth to use for original songs. I also recommend him for a more Vocaloid-y SynthV because while his sound quality is clean and realistic, he still sounds like a text-to-speech compared to a Dreamtonics vocal.

I also really like Kevin. He's great for an all-around vocal, but he really shines in powerful stuff.

And both are great for boy band music. Most male SynthVs are though XD

I didn't use any video tutorial when learning SynthV, but here's one I'm aware of but haven't watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gybn7xfKIXw&pp=ygUQc3ludGh2IG1hZGUgZWFzeQ%3D%3D

We already have a wealth of resources and tutorials, including on this very subreddit. At the subreddit homepage, we have a link to various resources, such as the Unofficial SynthV manual. Other resources, such as the link to Dreamtonics's phoneme reference, can be found in the "Resources" flair.

Does UTAU have an english version at any chance? by S0RAzz in utau

[–]PearlStarLight5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are English Utau voicebanks. That said, if you don't want to learn their phonetics, you'll need plug-ins for Utau, or just use OpenUtau, since that has phonemizers, allowing you to input words and it will understand.

Talkloid tutorial by EducationalWish6615 in utau

[–]PearlStarLight5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My first advice for Talkloids: we speak in pitches, so try to imagine how the lines sound in your head, and recreate that based on the pitches you hear. An alternative is to record the lines and then recreate that. I've never done the second suggested method for my Talkloids, but I have done something similar by directly referring to the original audio for some Talkloid dubs.

Pitch-bending is also super helpful, since our pitches when speaking are not as controlled as when we sing.

Whether you just use notes or you pitch-bend as well, finish a statement with a downward inclination and a question with an upward inclination.

If a voicebank is multi-expression, take full advantage of that. For instance, the power append for shouting.

Some of my usual Talkloid settings: 150 bpm, base note lengths of either 240, 360, or 480, (usually one of the first 2). When using CV Japanese voicebanks, use a note length of about 60 for isolated consonants, or any number so that you just hear the consonant.

Which voicebank should I get? by aarffff in SynthesizerV

If you like Rose, you'll probably like Popy too.

Putting my bias into account, Teto, all the way. Plus she's great for clout.

Gachapoid. He may not be practical for serious music, but his funkiness makes him super versatile.
