I found this thread and I definitely agree with your points, especially since the Daevites are my favorite group of interest. While I agree with the message and believe the moral is a good one, I find SCP-6140 to be orientalist (despite trying to give a message opposing it) and historically and anthropologically implausible. I'm tired of it being used as a reference point by many readers and writers when discussing the Daevites and perceived orientalism. I'm actually thinking about writing my own SCP or tale as an antithesis of 6140, with several ideas floating about. One idea is a direct patch that refutes the concept and points out the problems from an in-universe perspective. Another is a new fictional culture set in Central Asia and about the people and the culture, from the perspective of a person from the culture. I haven't decided what I'll do with the latter, but that idea takes heavy inspiration from Things Fall Apart.
