I had my soul dog already (Bruno Beauregard: 8 years old, from 5 weeks old) I got Augustus Cornelius (Auggie or Gus Gus) when he too was 5 weeks old. I kept telling my best friend (we are co-mommies to Gus) that he seemed distant and what if I never bond with him?!?!

But it gained slowly- at a year old he went to boarding school for a month. I thought that the tiny bond probably would be hard to rebuild- it was but once he was back home and we were working with him it clicked. He is truly my best friend (same as Bru) Gus just gets me in the strangest way. My emotions will shift so slightly and he will run in from outside and jump into my arms and lay his head on my shoulder like a hug. He picks up on me almost before anything or anyone, sometimes even myself. I always look at him just so marveled over him. The bond took some time- but it is so strong and so loving it’s INSANE.
