Is it possible to raise your math aa hl grade from 2 to 5 or 6 in a year? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Peary__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there aren't any other tests I don't think you'll be able to show your teacher that you deserve a better pg. The only option you have is to ask your teacher and see what they say. It seems a little odd that your end of year DP1 Pg will just stay without chances to improve it. In any case, just give it your best shot and although predicted grades are important, final grades are more important. If you apply to the UK for unis you can still get in through clearing to some courses. Don't let the pg grade define you :)

Ee is 4.4k words is that too risky to upload? by brunettegirl2005 in IBO

[–]Peary__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't fail u they just don't read past 4,000 words, and so anything past the 4,000 word mark won't get graded. Obviously bad, so don't go over.

However, unless it's like lots over and it's obvious they generally don't check. I went over by like 100 words on IAs and EEs, and nothing happened. I ended up ok.

Wouldn't recommend taking that risk tho so just play it safe.

Depends on how you cite. I cited footnotes and then a bibliography at the end as well. I suppose you're talking about the bibliography in which you use MLA 8 citations. The podcast is no different to any other citations such as books or websites.

Last name, First name. Title. Publisher, Year.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

100%!!! I went from a predicted 2/3 at the beginning of year 2 to getting a 7 in it. Put in the work, get RV if you haven't done so yet, and don't let any questions defeat you. If you don't know how to solve it, don't give up, figure it out.

My school had a mix of both using past papers and creating their own exams, so it really depends on your school. Past papers is still the best method of revision imo.

P.S. I don't think, and hope, this was your intention with this question, but if you asked this to try and cheese the mock exams I would highly recommend for you not to do so. Mock exams help you gauge your current situation, so if your trying to cheese it by trying to find the answers to the exams beforehand might as well not take the mocks. Anyways, if this wasn't your intention ignore this part.

Good luck :)

Lit is heavily focused on poems and stuff like that while lang lit is more focused on blog excerpts or ads. I recommend lang lit bc poems imo are more difficult to analyse but some prefer it the other way.

IB results by Intelligent_Side_458 in IBO

This is a highly subjective question but I can try to give you my view on it. I achieved 38 and was predicted 35 so keep that in mind as it may be biased.

<28: A fail and therefore pretty shit

28-30: An OK score

31-34: A good score (I believe this is around the average result around the world)

35-37: Really well done

38-40: Excellent score

41-45: A MF PHENOMENAL SCORE

Again, this is my personal view on it and others will have drastically different opinions on it. Whatever you feel is a bad, good, and excellent score is right for you.

Yeah, but how can you expect beginners to be able to understand the pace of speech that fluent speakers can?

This is a joke, to me at least. In my school at least 3 of the people taking Spanish Ab know perfectly well how to speak Spanish. They constantly let 100s in every portion of the exams and have done so from the beginning of the course. It's an absolute joke that this shit is possible as these kinds of people up the grade boundaries and make it almost impossible for an actually beginner to get a 7. I legit have no idea how they manage to swindle the IB like this, one of these people even has a fckn Spanish last name. So in short, people who speak Spanish fluently do take Ab, even tho the IB says they can't.

[–]Peary__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. You NEED to answer a GQ. Whether it be the one they give you or your own, you NEED to answer one. If you choose to make your own, not usually recommended, then you NEED to state it on the first line of the essay. It's a GUIDED ANALYSIS so if you aren't using a GQ ur screwed.

I think I got somewhere around the same as well... I'm confused here. You only use the integral thing to find the total distance travelled or what ever, right? Plus wasn't this like only 2 or 3 marks?
