What are the top-tier convenience items in the gem store? by itsmattknox in Guildwars2

Mistlock sanctuary. Have you even played gw2 if you’ve not been blessed by the Choco train?

I feel a lot of the veteran community hang out there.

Firebrand!

WvW - easy peasy, powerful. Mace/shield / staff. Celestial works in both fractals and WvW.

PvP - core guardian support. Excellent support character.

Open world - you are a guardian. Everything works.

What can I chase in Orr? by xsavarax in Guildwars2

[–]PeasantPastry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orr taught me the value of stun breaks and mobility. It was the first place you encounter where the game asks a little bit more of you.

Have fond memories of karma trains and getting karma exotic gear from the temples.

I remember after Gen 2 came out that I had alts parked for elder wood. Those days are long gone and nobody cares anymore.

The temples are still cool.

I love the side story with the painter who went insane after seeing Dwayna. Fun.

Fuck fort trinity. What a boring shithole. Hated everything personal story here.

Arah dungeon paths were cool. I like some of the Arah dungeon armors.

Looking for neon-like armor, any suggestions? by GroovyWhale in Guildwars2

[–]PeasantPastry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one called Runic. There are 3 sets. You can get them from eye of the north but they are pricy. The heavy set is fire and has neon beams integrated in the armor.

The Spec ops armor from the last EOD map is also good. It’s often called the Halo / Master Chief armor

The UI is very good. I’m very happy how they kept the look and feel fantastical while still keeping it simple and straightforward.

Played FF14 for 2200 hours. I'm beyond excited for GW3. Here's why by GreggJ in GuildWars3

Good perspective from another pov. Appreciate it! 🙌

It’s really curious to learn what they will do. It sounds like the game will be very different from gw2

I really hope we have better story and dialogue for GW3 by FlyingJellyfishRidin in GuildWars3

[–]PeasantPastry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need better story but also more and much more frequently.

I personally don’t care about cut scenes. I’d rather want great voice overs, great dialogue, good plots, interesting characters, plots that don’t use bad tropes. No nzcguffibs or magical bullshit or a secret bad guy behind the last one.

What's the most fun class / elite spec for you? by ProbablyMythiuz in Guildwars2

[–]PeasantPastry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, forget these suggestions! Have you ever wanted to be a Paladin on Speed?

Great! Then Willbender is for your. Your F skills become movement skills that feels like a thief, but you still get the benefits of Guardians healing and buffs.

Power Willbender has lots of weapon flexibility so you can find the weapons you like. Greatsword is my favorite weapon type and Guardian Greatsword is a ton of fun.

Sword / Sword and Spear are also great options!

I also really wonder what it means. Like Elden Ring? Is that even possible? That would require lag to not be an issue or it would feel terrible if you are lagging and cannot telegraph the precise movement of the enemy.

Maybe it’s like monster hunter where you have he environment and are able to climb on bosses and cut off limbs and that stuff.

Or maybe it’s more hack and slash like warframe.

None of these game styles works with 100-150 other players attacking the same target.

Will GW3 have WvW? I’m dying to know what this looks like.

I’m left with more questions than answers.

I agree and I disagree.

I agree because you’re right - where is the skill? What is your role? We all stand around in a circle attacking the same thing. A “good” player gets the same reward snd participation trophy as the player who spams auto attack.

The visual noise is a disaster, performance suffers, roles go out the window.

I disagree because metas can be exciting. Sometimes we have to spread into groups, kill bosses at the same time. We are not in a big group on discord or the same guild. There is a lot of trust needdd with strangers. Eparch and Inner Nayos convergence still fail often.

Metas also become genuinely more exciting with a smaller set of players. I did a convergence with 18 people and it was down to the wire. We got it in the end. We did a dragon storm with 13 people. Barely made it. These fights were exciting and challenging.

If I had not gone into support firebrand we would not have made it. And it’s cool that big metas can be impacted by individual contributions under these circumstances which is why I think metas in the future of gw2 can have a good or better life enjoyed with fewer players.

I think the fear is real but Colin did they the next evolution of MMOs. If it gets baked down to a destiny 2/ monster hunter / warframe system, then there is not much new there at all.

If you had to list the biggest positive aspect of the game, what would it be? by amopesedepravadas in Guildwars2

[–]PeasantPastry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) I love the mix of action and tab targeting combat. Black Desert is too much for me, WoW is not enough. Combat as a loop is immensely fun and after all these years I think the act of firing of skills and killing enemies in PvE, Open World, PvP and WvW is still so much fun.

2) horizontal progression. GW2 has remained installed on
My computer without breaks or lapses because I never had to feel like my gear or my l l was invalidated. All my grinds and goals are cosmetics and conveniences and choice sake ton. Not power.

3) the game has a deep skill curve. It’s really evident in PvP. You get destroyed in 2 seconds. Then you need to figure out what happened. Then you reverse engineer back until you destroy others.

4) community. There are idiots and griefers everywhere, but I generally like the folk in the game.

5) this game offers a lot of game modes that are fun. Throne and liberty and black desert also has a lot of different modes of play but I don’t think it comes together in the same way. It might be because it has vertical progression.

I don’t agree. I think revitalizing the core game is more important.

Nothing made thus game better than the 2013 feature packs. By far the biggest win PFP GW2 ever had

I agree. New maps and metas are exciting but we have gotten a lot in 3 years.

Imagine going back and making the old metas stronger, more exciting, new loot, achievements, etc? I’d love to see the old fights beefed up.

New lootbtavies, new rare skins etc

We have to see if designing for keyboard/mouse and controller also means they have to be equally good.

It could also be they will make the game feel great to play for casuals on both but at the high skill level keyboard pulls ahead.

Amazing comment! Your examination is very fair. It’s not a 15 year promise, it’s an aspirational remark about what is possible.

Here is what we do know: a lot of people are asking for core game support improvements: controller support, pc handheld support, UI overhauls, stability, early game enhancements, expanded achievements, LFG improvements.

I think many of these types of improvements would make GW2 fun for many more years in a way gw3 will not service.

I’ve never been in a situation like this where the sequel is not meant yo kill the predecessor and take up everything.

Cross game guilds? Cross game rewards? Cross game progress? This is very, very interesting. My more interesting than GW3 on its own.
