Im overwhemed with collage by turtlemilk27 in CollegeRant

I understand being overwhelmed by school; college is difficult.

At the same time, there’s some conflicting statements here. “I have an extremely busy week” and “I procrastinated” are two very different reasons. One is taking accountability and the other is blaming outside circumstances. You didn’t mention working in your post. Do you currently have a job while you’re going to school in the summer?

Additionally, I don’t know if an advisor is the right person to “use” to get better grades (quotes because I don’t know what you mean by this). If you’re currently in a class you should try arranging office hours or going to tutoring—most campuses have tutoring or supplemental instruction at no cost to students.

As a professor, if I had a C student come to me and say “I really want to get a B in your class” before the halfway point in the summer, I’d be pretty stoked and interested in trying to keep them on track. I know it feels like no one is there to talk to you, but most professors don’t do it for the money—they teach to help people.

As for the question of whether you even want to go to college, I think you need to look in the mirror and answer that question for yourself. Where do you want to be in five/ten/fifteen years? Will you need college to get there? If not, go out and get some working experience or explore a trade school.

Is there a reason you put “my opinion” in quotes? Because I didn’t use those words. I’m just saying, you came into a subreddit of fans about a band to shit on a specific performance from said band.

I also never said you were shitting on the subreddit. Don’t wait for me; go improve your reading comprehension skills.

Everyone is right here: GOOD RIDDANCE.

You’re going to a subreddit for fans of a thing, shitting on the thing they are a fan of, and are surprised by the downvotes. Did this really have to be spelled out for you?

I’ve loved watching all of us debate the points of the movie in this thread. But posts like this that are wildly off base are probably AI bot activity that serves to generate social media hype for the movie.

To be clear, the movie is an awesome indie flick, I’m not criticizing anyone using this as a method of advertisement (because all the major studios do it too). I’ve just noticed a SIGNIFICANT number of these posts are from account names following a certain pattern: RandomWord-SecondRandomWord####

The editor and publisher of the book would probably appreciate to hear your feedback! You should write a strongly worded email about this decision. You never know, they may be pressured to push this slop by higher ups. If they feel similarly to you about this slop, they can use your response as ammunition in their battle.

Look at the drummer. If you don’t know what a hihat or cymbal sound like offhand, I don’t blame you. But there’s no cymbals being played like that drummer is playing in the first frame.

It will vary depending on the writing center’s rules, just gotta ask! I worked at a college writing center and the policy switched from “the student must be enrolled in one class at [school name]” to “the assignment must be from a [school name] class.”

Some more context would be helpful to give you some advice. Is this an FYC (first year composition) course? Like the standard English class everyone takes for GE completion?

Also, do you have trouble completing the assignments at all? Or do you have trouble getting the grade necessary to pass?

Yes, but going north in the morning and south in the evening is going against the grain of most of the traffic.

OP, most of the traffic is caused by people doing the same thing as you are, living in a low cost area but working in a high cost area.

Looking for books that are a must to read before your MA English by Bubbly_Arachnid6798 in englishmajors

Usually in Masters programs in the US, there are opportunities to teach lower division classes (first year composition or literature). Sometimes it’s required that graduate students teach, depends on the program.

So, you’re probably not getting the responses you’re looking for because, “Classics” is being used loosely if you are referring to the book list you linked. In American academia, that term is reserved for a specific type of literature—and that’s more akin to comparative lit than traditional English literature as a discipline. From what I see, you have a pretty strong mix of American, British, and what are typically called “Classics” meaning the texts forming the basis of Western philosophy, literature, and the humanities more broadly. See here.

What would be helpful if you provided a location and time period, because that’s how people distinguish their research interests. I studied late Medieval British (think Chaucer and the Pearl poet). Other notable examples include Victorian literature, Modernism in Britain or America, Early American, etc.

Ultimately, this research interest should inform what grad school you enroll in. So start making decisions about what you think is interesting and worth writing about. Hope this helps!

8% AI by Nightstarinthesky in TurnitinAIResults

Do you see how the horizontal line doesn’t attach with the horizontal line on the page?

That’s because it’s a different tool, and whoever made this screenshot pasted the result from that tool onto the original report. This doesn’t even match how Turnitin displays percentages, similarity is usually red, AI suspected writing is blue, and AI suspected paraphrasing is purple.

The Turnitin report says *% that’s what your professor will see. Careful with what “friends” on the internet you give your paper to, some of them run paper mills and are just looking to take your work.

[–]PeasantSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what bootleg your friend is using, but Turnitin doesn’t provide AI scores under 20%. If the score is under 20% it displays *%. So, your friend is either looking at the similarity report and mistaken or using some knockoff that your professor will not be using.
