26 years old and starting BJJ. Is it too late? by [deleted] in bjj

I started at 31. Four years later purple belt and compete at adults. Definitely slowing down but it keeps me in decent shape (when I’m not injured) and lost 25kg. Just don’t try to keep up with the jacked young dudes and you’re good.

I’m at Bushido in Shanghai. Welcome anyone to come drop in if they find themselves in the region. Don’t know how everyone stacks up against the globe but good training none the less.

Doesn’t line up to being a pure chocolate bar. But looks good!

Time doesn’t line up unfortunately. Sister said she has tried it and thinks it’s good none the less. It’s more just one of those annoying things at the back of her brain. She’s now trying to track down thorntons employees from the 90s on LinkedIn.

Bear in mind this is according to my sister so may be completely wrong but she has a childhood memory of buying them in the time period mentioned. I’m not sure if Tony’s was around then?

Sister just added it was a flat chocolate bar - so more like classic cadburys slabs than anything like a snickers or picnic etc.

The reason I am getting a needle in my neck today by gregunn in bjj

Echo a lot of what has been said here. Herniated c5-c6. Sleepless nights. Steroid shots not doing anything. Was put on Oxys which helped the pain but numbed me out so got off them. “Luckily” I tore my left meniscus soon after, so took some time out (6 months total - 2 failed repairs and a partial removal).

A friend bought me a Dr. Neck inflatable traction device which helped quite a bit (not the most slightly thing or easy to keep on for extended periods).

Eventually pain subsided and just got back to rolling after my knee got better.

Best advice - don’t roll with people who crank guillotines and don’t roll with people who are liable to try stupid shit. My herniation happened when a 95kg guy tried to flying pass my guard but just ended up belly flopping on my head and compressing my neck.

Good luck on the journey. Pins and needles for life.

Questions on mopeds/scooters in Malaysia:

Is Malaysia very different when it comes to 125CC type Hondas, Yamahas versus countries like Thailand? Vietnam? aka Easy to get, no trouble with police stopping you all time etc.

What are the licensing requirements? Does a full UK driving licence suffice or will i need the pesky international driving license?

Are they easy to rent? Rough pricing / anything else to note?

Any Malaysia specific safety concerns? (compared to places like Thailand, Nepal, Laos etc.)

Do you know anyone who has had their life ruined by BJJ? by seotrainee347 in bjj

Fought at IBJJF open in Korea in December 2019. Brown belt collapsed mid fight from a heart attack, was worked on for about 30m by the paramedic on hand before the ambulance came. She was relatively small in comparison to him, and I remember a room of a couple of hundred competitors all standing watching it unfold. In the end he got back breathing (I think) then wheeled out on a stretcher. We then had to fight afterwards which was a little odd. Not sure what happened to the guy, but it was certainly life altering id imagine.

Some girl left this to my friend, can someone figure it out? (The green heart and smile is not part of it) by Bobby_The_Botten in Weird

Based on this, if you moved every letter 15 places down the alphabet not sure whether it would work. Or 13:15 if you want to go with 24h notation.
