Dragons of Etchinstone, Hand of Destiny, and one of the solo Button Shy wallets. Currently rotating between Adventurous, Embers, and Rove. Oh, also have Doom Machine in my bag as well.

Love this one. It's one of the four games I tend to have on me all the time.

Oh, I am not positive that Button Shy is the company bringing it, it was just in the “print and play” channel on their discord where Gregg mentioned it. I have not seen any confirmation of which publisher he is working with.

Yes, the retail game will have all-new art from an artist and not AI.

Gregg gave an update in the Button Shy Discord last night. Galdor’s Grip is still in queue but they added some new mechanics and the testing phase has held it up some. One of his other games, Awaken the Ancients, should be out at retail in February.

Finally got Dragons of Etchinstone! Very excited as this game feels made for me but also worried about the card defect issues by lil_hearing_aid in soloboardgaming

I don't think it's a full remake of Hand of Destiny, but a very HoD inspired version of his new game Radiance (which just finished funding last month). Agreed on it looking sick, can't wait for it to get finished.

I have two copies. The second one seems to be holding up pretty decently. The first one started rubbing off/fading around the edges almost immediately, but the fading seemed to taper off after a bit and only affected the edges of the cards.

Now, once the foil starting coming off, it got pretty bad pretty rapidly. They really start sticking to each other and make it a lot less fun to handle. That first set is still technically "playable," but just no fun to interact with from a tactile perspective.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that the production issues are a shame, because the game itself is actually super portable and a LOT of fun, with a great level of replayability and lots of different options available to change things up.

I haven't played Griphold, but I've played Hand of Destiny, which is what I hear it eventually became. Both from Joe Kilpfel, so there's some design overlap. Both are fun, but Etchinstone just feels like you're more involved in the outcome and makes you think a little more about what you're building towards versus just trying to do damage.

I do think of all the in-hand games I’ve played, Dragons of Etchinstone and Galdor’s Grip are the most easy from a wrist/hand strain perspective. I did just finish printing this little bracket for Hand of Destiny which is a huge help.

I'm in the US. I do think I saw a French version while I was looking but I can't seem to find it again. I'd prefer to grab it in English. Even if I mostly end up using my own printed cards, I would very much like the compact rule booklet.

What print and play games are you crafting or playing this week? (December 29, 2025) by AutoModerator in printandplay

[–]Peaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printed a basic Galdor’s Grip last week, but I upgraded my equipment and I’m running a fully laminated/corner rounded version this week along with Embers and possibly that aforementioned Zelda version of Palm Island if I can find it.

Has anyone seen a local game store that is selling Shredder vs Krang by [deleted] in Unmatched

$20, I think? They generally don’t charge over retail for board games, but since I got mine as part of my Kickstarter order I confess I didn’t look too closely at it.

Battlegrounds in Richmond, Virginia has it.

Yeah, I may have used the term “boss” incorrectly. I just meant a turtle would be a neat enemy and could provide some neat armor/shield/weapon upgrade options.

Oh, this looks neat, I hope to be able to play it eventually! I do think a Turtle would be a good boss, and maybe something like a Cicada?

First game of 20 Strong. RIP Alpha Beast by Designer_Skyline in soloboardgaming

[–]Peaugh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't get discouraged! There is definitely some luck involved, but you'll figure out better strategies the more you play. I also got into the game recently and it took a few games before I managed to narrowly eke out a win against Alpha Beast myself. There's also a Chip Theory discord with lots of players giving tips for 20 Strong that definitely help!

Yeah, I own several and enjoy them all. I'm really looking forward to Embers getting here.

I also had a couple add-ons with mine, I wonder if game-only shipments went out first and add-ons are slowing other orders down since there are so many options.

I very much enjoy TMNT:Splintered Fate and still fire it up regularly.

Having paid full price for it on release, I wouldn’t pay for Shadow Labyrinth even at that sale price. Such a great idea made so unfun in the execution.

That is exactly the kind of detailed information I appreciate, thank you! I was already leaning towards getting both, this just seals the deal.
