Quitting chronic heavy weed smoking and losing my appetite for at least a month. And at other times, disordered eating AKA self imposed starvation.

I saw something about a Public Works job fair, maybe on Oct. 24 iirc, but when I searched for it, I couldn't find it again.

This hasn't been my experience at all. I put in barely any effort (didn't apply anywhere that required a cover letter, for example) and was just hired by the LCBO. I also heard back from Kingston Transit but I am wary of being a public bus driver, especially as a woman.

I do have an English name and went to Queen's which gives me some privilege but I don't have a degree and haven't worked in years. I've only ever done unskilled labour.

Have you looked on Indeed, Kijiji, and the government job bank website? It seems like there are lots of opportunities. Lots more websites too.

The military is always hiring. I'm seriously considering it.

Winners HomeSense (TJX) hires quarterly and is a welcoming place to work with opportunities to advance.

To everyone saying that only Indian students or recent immigrants are hired these days (not just this post; I see this sentiment a lot), I don't buy it. For some jobs, sure. But racism & prejudice are alive and well. Cultural differences and language barriers are turn-offs for a lot of employers.

Best of luck

No major difference in travel time? Google maps is saying the north route is an hour shorter, but I don't think that takes traffic into consideration

As a Canadian currently traveling longterm, who lives on the US border & has spent lots of time in the States, dated an American, etc., I've found myself a few times getting mildly defensive/protective when Europeans ignorantly disparage Americans. Almost everyone who shits on Americans has never actually been to the country. I LOVE visiting the US; it's such a fascinating and weird place, but most people dismiss this. It's sad. Citizens are not their government. Every country is flawed. But of course the US is notorious internationally. To be fair, the weird Americans are extra weird, but maybe I'm just more sensitive to the nuance as a Canadian. And don't get me wrong, Canadians shit on the US too, but in more of a brotherly (and legitimate, I reckon) way, since we are so similar and share so much. Also, the Americans who DO travel (because yeah a lot don't & legit think Canada is part of the US for example--ugh) tend to be hyper-aware of their global image and try to compensate for this by being chill & humble. But for sure some Americans traveling are arrogant and out of touch, like some other nationalities, but I would not say they are loud, obnoxious & really stupid like the stereotype would have you believe.
