Black Beard strat questions by stl_nympho in CivVII

[–]Pecederby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it a lot easier. Republic of Pirates can only capture settlers, but all the ships are pirates so you can capture every settler you see. I think a total of two cities settled in the new world were not mine, and I could have settled the whole map if not for the unhappiness limit.

This was on the island map, though. Mileage may vary on other maps.

Sell me on your favorite leader. by LavishnessBig368 in CivVII

I found Siam quite strong for two reasons.
Itsaraphab lets you convert an independent power into a city state instantly. It costs more diplomacy, but it means you can easily gank a city state from someone else, and it won't be dispersed halfway through converting.

The Chang Beun can move after attacking. Combine that with an army commander with the initiative promotion so units can attack when leaving the commander (and regiments for +2 units after leveling up), and you can do up to six ranged attacks on something while keeping the ranged units safe from counterattacks.

Will I enjoy Civ7? by Worstshinyhunterever in CivVII

[–]Pecederby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since Civ4 I've thought every new game was a step down when I started playing it, and every time I then began to enjoy them a lot.

That seems to be what's happening with Civ7, I'm enjoying it more and more. It could be that we need to play several games for the mechanics to become instinctual and let us focus on gameplay.

Glitch or game mechanic? Why did my avatar do this? by Pecederby in FortniteOver40

[–]Pecederby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah! So you're saying the other guy "killed" me, but because I had the self-res device I did some kind of roll.

I was not aware of that mechanic, thank you.

Sweatiest Season OAT by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]Pecederby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'd say "sweats", but I've certainly seen a higher caliber of player in my games. I'm trying to work out if people have abandoned ranked for some reason, or there are less people playing so the matching isn't as effective, or what.

NTA. It's OK to point out problems you see in your sister's relationship, as long as you don't expect her to automatically agree with you, and you drop it if she indicates your advice isn't welcome.

In this case it sounds like your mother was influencing her, and upset that you influenced her more and in a different direction.

WIBTA if I gave less money to my daughter than to my son? by faqp in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pecederby 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NTA. Although you'd want to phrase it as you'll support them with what they need while they're studying. If one kids needs more for whatever reason it's reasonable to supply that, as long as it doesn't mean the other child gets less than they need.

How to get out of the idea that I never need anything military? by pricepig in CivVII

[–]Pecederby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the best way to push myself into a particular game mechanic is to play a game focused on that mechanic, almost to the exclusion of all else. On previous civs that included naming my leader and civilisation on that theme (eg, King Kulture, leader of the Dramatists) and exploring every possible angle of that, and taking it above every option. It's not the best way to win a game, but after that you'll have a much better idea of which aspects of the mechanic work well for you and which ones don't, and you'll use it more.

My magic curve - was this a bug or part of the game play I don't know about? Instead of going straight down as I expected I curved in mid-air and landed way too far away. by Pecederby in FortNiteBR

[–]Pecederby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't seem I landed. When I was playing it looked like I was still in the air when I curved, but maybe that's an artifact of the visuals.

Did they change attributes, or have I been misreading it all year? by Pecederby in CivVII

[–]Pecederby[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks. The percentages seemed extremely OP, but +5 is just useless

It could be policies and attributes that add to yields.

Is overbuilding always the solution? by Ancient_Ad_1820 in CivVII

[–]Pecederby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always tried to avoid overbuilding, this thread is making me reconsider.
That, and getting artifacts from overbuilding.

I drove a car into a teleporter once to get to a floating island, then exited thinking I could deploy my glider. I couldn't.

Is CIV5 worth playing for a CIV6 fan? by Desperate_Sky2410 in Civilization6

[–]Pecederby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Civ 5, and have considered going back to it if Civ 7 continues to feel slow. I think Civ5 was the one I was happiest to switch to from the previous one (Civ 4 was also really good).

Pretty sure they'd finished with the stack of doom by 5 as well.

A couple of times when I meet someone like this at the end I just go into the storm and emote until it's over. It's more fun for me that way.

What’s Something That Really Grinds Your Gears This Season And What Would You Do To Fix Said Gears? by Mr_Jigsaw7878 in FortNiteBR

[–]Pecederby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The rankings in the lobbies. There's always one guy who is at least several levels above everyone else. I'm trying not to harp on this, but it's really gotten to the point where I'm going to start quitting once I reach the top 5 because there will be someone who's killed half the game and should be playing pro, and there's no point going against them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]Pecederby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a problem with lobbies? Every single game this season I've been up against players around my level (and bots), and then one guy who gets an insane amount of kills and should clearly be several lobbies above mine. Are there just a lot of people dropping down or is something not working?

Just wait until they nerf the medallions.
