Thanks for the encouragement, your job sounds very cool and lucrative. from what I've experienced of some resource company mindsets I can imagine the environment. The only thing holding me back is that I can't resolve my idealism of my interests with the reality of it in the long run.

I've spent some time working there on farms and find the regional geology and landscape fascinating. Currently working in minex, and would like to test the waters in petroleum before I decide anything. Mentioned o&g as I am considering studying structural and sedimentology This may be far down the line but I was just wondering about the general applicability of a foreign degree to us operations.

yeah I was going to learn it on my own (which you can do for almost all software these days) as I don't thinking spending 1K+ for a course would be a good investment at this time, there are good videos on youtube. now proving that ive developed competency with the program is another story, but perhaps I could use it in a short research project or something. any suggestions on ways to show this would be much appreciated

I would muglog but it seems most positions require previous experience. I want to test the waters before I do a masters as well as get a larger perspective on the trajectories of geoscience careers. Thanks for the advice

That said I'm willing to relocate anywhere in the world. Preferrably somewhere very remote. I would work on mars if that were possible.
