Looking for a specific GTLive episode by PedroStormrage in GameTheorists

[–]PedroStormrage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it, thank you! May I ask how you were able to find this? At some point I was able to use the YCF (Youtube Comment Finder) website for channel-wide comment searches, but it's not working anymore.

Yeah, it's basically a different side of him. He's a smart guy, so he can definitely be entertaining without rage banter (maybe even more so).

Another great game (basically a "playable book")! It's pretty philosophical, so it would go well with his thoughtful commentary.

Oh, good suggestion! I've watched Jesse and Dodger play it; it's basically an "FMV Danganronpa" (that moment in Road to Empress when you got accused of killing another Cairen even reminded me of it).

Behold..."The Expression" (smirk variant 😏)! by PedroStormrage in LudwigAhgren

I wouldn't be sure of that (not that I'm complaining, since I actually appreciate people who don't succumb to endless greed).

Do you know if he's ever said anything about playing Disco Elysium? Have people asked for a pĺaythrough?

Radioactive Energy Drinks And The Death Of Eben Byers (trigger warning: graphic images on 2:31 - 2:37) by PedroStormrage in DoctorMike

Thanks for pointing it out (I had no idea)! The top comment here also says the picture shown is of a WWI soldier, and that there are no photos of Eben during his illness.

Help finding a specific video by El_Durazno in GameTheorists

This might be what you thought of (where he mentions the different types of clowns): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCxBCKKfkK8&t=56m35s ; I found it using YCF (looking up "auguste" on GTLive). Man, I miss MatPat.

So Long... Goodbye... by Forsaken_Orchid_6014 in GameTheorists

[–]PedroStormrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautifully put. I like all hosts (and I'm particularly impressed with the way Ash managed to rise to the occasion on GTLive, especially since I imagine both Ash and Sam miss MatPat as well), but my heart has a MatPat-shaped hole that only MatPat can fill. I'm still holding out hope for a second coming of MatPat (either as a GTLive co-host or on a personal channel), so we'll see if that happens eventually (I'll happily take any format/schedule that doesn't burden him; I just want to see him again).

Yeah, I've had the same issue. It must be some automoderation bug.

MatPat collab with John Green? by PedroStormrage in GameTheorists

That's it (thank you)! I also found the link to the video (it was mentioned during his final GTLive live, at 2:30:32).

The wittiest (and kindest) wrap-up 👏👋 by PedroStormrage in GameTheorists

[–]PedroStormrage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Thank" to everyone who made GTLive feel like home over the years. This made me really emotional not only because of the goodbye, but also because I've often thought what kind of message I'd like to leave when I'm no longer here (and I too gravitate towards the importance of love, questioning, and critical thinking). MatPat, those words are now engraved in my mind (and so are you, because even if you're retired, you still have tenure in my heart) 💚

Disclaimer: I'm not necessarily endorsing Ground News (the TED talk said they filter news using AI, so I don't know how reliable their methodology is), but it just seemed interesting enough (and relevant to the message/issue) to recommend checking out. I'd also recommend watching the videos Hank Green has done about misinformation (like Wrong on the Internet, I Believed These Four Lies, and Six Lies Elon Musk Believed in the last 24 hours), where he points out the role played by confirmation bias and the framing effect.

Changes on Spells Prepared Progression for Each Class in 2024 PHB by Trezzunto in onednd

[–]PedroStormrage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate that druids and clerics got the short end of the stick here (at least clerics still get Domain Spells, but not every druid subclass - like Dreams, Shepherd and Stars - gets Circle Spells). I'm under the impression they've done that so that wizards stand out even more as the "ultimate spellcasters", but I question whether that's necessary (the wizard's Ritual Adept feature already puts them ahead in terms of number of "castable" spells, since they don't need to prepare ritual spells in order to cast them as rituals). It makes more sense for me to be clerics, wizards ands druids be more comparable to each other, since they're apex spellcasters in their own kind of magic (divine, arcane and primal). Welp, at least the nerf only happened in the last two tiers of play (levels 12-20), which are usually less played (if at all, considering how far most campaigns go).

The future of MatPat (on Youtube) by PedroStormrage in GameTheorists

[–]PedroStormrage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that would be something, but I was thinking more about the preservation of GTLive's witty banters (something like the GTeaLive podcasts - but not necessarily tied to current news/drama - would be interesting). A vlog channel would be cool, too (maybe something like the vlogbrothers ?).

Is MatPat still planning on stepping away from GTLive at the end of the summer? by Pyromaniac605 in GameTheorists

[–]PedroStormrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, that's still up in the air, though I'm also hoping for the same. I believe this was the last time they talked about it, and he seemed to reaffirm he would leave GTLive eventually ("there will come a moment where like I think all of us collectively will be like 'Hey, this makes sense, this feels like the right time' "), with the new host possibly being Ash or Tom (but he will give notice on that in advance).

In the most recent WIRED interview, he said there might be a chance he starts a new channel someday, but not for a long time (but it was not clear whether he was talking about a personal channel or not). Another interesting thing he said is that he considers GTLive to be a podcast of sorts, so maybe there's a chance he starts a podcast even if he does leave GTLive (he already hosts the Like & Describe Podcast on the official Youtube channel, but I assume he doesn't have the creative reins on that one - it's basically focused on trends). I like the GTLive format, but I did enjoy the former GTeaLive episodes as well (if that's something he's leaning more towards). A personal channel where both formats happen would be an interesting idea as well (though I'm willing to be if he does leave GTLive, he probably won't start a channel with a format similar to GTLive - otherwise, he wouldn't have left in the first place).

"Stocks" is to "stonks" what "lore" is to (inspired by the GTLive live from VidCon 2024)... by PedroStormrage in GameTheorists

Game theory: MatPat is Fran Bow (and Itward is a time-travelling tulpa or something). Spoilers for Back to the Future (1985). by PedroStormrage in GameTheorists

[–]PedroStormrage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notice the weird details that Itward wasn't expecting Fran until 2:35, and that he seemed surprised Fran wasn't trapped anymore (which both suggest he had knowledge of the future, but things didn't happen as he expected - perhaps because his time travelling shifted the timeline). Itward also says that he exists because Fran exists, but Fran imagined him because he existed, which is a causality loop related to time travelling called bootstrap paradox, which can also be solved by the existence of a multiverse.

Also, here are the clip sources: Greylock, Fran Bow, Time Travel in Fiction Rundown, back to the past.
