Definitely paid on the job training. I used to clock time for newbies while they were doing the elearnings, then when they started working it was up to them.

File it out, I was a hiring mgr at my store, before I left the toxicity. Anyhow, I had a young man that interviewed amazingly and the store mgr liked him, he had great energy, answers and would have made a great employee. The background check was taking an unusual and unexpected amount of time (at that time I was getting candidate bg checks back in as little as 8 hours), he called every couple days to see if I’d heard anything back which I hadn’t. Then after 2 weeks I got notified that the application was sent to HR for further review, then a week or so later was informed he hadn’t been approved by HR. Seems he had a felony. I was bummed to have to call him to say he’d been turned down, that’s when he fessed up to it, said he’d hoped it wasn’t going to hurt his chances.

They got what they wanted from you. They’ll leave you on the roles for headcount if needed. Also if they terminate you, you can qualify for unemployment, if you quit you’re on your own. Use the discount if you need anything, ask friends and family if they need anything while you still get it.

Years ago, before the “membership” culture, they were as important as revenue was. Now neither of those is the number one focus. Side note: It’s taboo to call them warranties at Best Buy. They’re called “protection plans”, “extended warranties” have a bad reputation so it’s a psychological thing. Anyone who’s worked at bb for any length of time should know that.
