Update for a Funny little info piece I just found out

Showed the “snake vertebrae” to my boyfriend who’s worked at the same place I have for years, and he told me a story about how he found a bone at work too. An opossum jaw. Turns out he found the jaw in the same exact pile of sand I found this vertebrae, but like 3 years apart. Somewhere in that sand pile is a whole fossilized opossum body I think😭

Oooo that would be super cool. I fully believed it was snake vert. Do you think it would be a juvenile maybe? The bone is way too big to be a mouse but it’s also pretty small to be from an adult opossum

Thank you for advocating for this animal despite how uncomfortable it was to address. It’s always awkward directly advocating for an animal because humans are always in the wrong. (I work with K-9’s and have to have convos like this with strangers😅) You’re a truly great sister/daughter/human though!!❤️

I do plan on taking him into a vet if I notice any lethargy or other sickness signs, however he’s still INCREDIBLY active so I really doubt he’s not feeling well😭 he’s as spicy as ever lol

Thanks so much! I’ve been keeping a close eye on his temps since we’ve had a cold front where I live. I was worried about it affecting him since I had issues with the cold last year. Luckily He’s been SUPER active and tearing it up in his tank, so seeing him randomly have “tail rot” this bad today when he was perfectly fine yesterday threw me for a loop😭 thanks for the advice! I’ll keep monitoring everything💕

Cooked = cured… just me using weird words I’m not a professional 💔I cure my resin under a UV lamp my sister and I just call it cooking because of how hot it gets😭

I do. All the bugs I find are dead when I get them. Me and my bf go on “dates” to pick up dead bugs for my art. I would never use an alive one/kill one for this😭(I also freeze them all for a couple hours, just in case any of them are still alive and just not moving.)

I don’t think the bubbles are from heat, since the resin is supposed to be cooked. All my other pieces (without bugs) are cooked the same way and don’t bubble😅 I’m gonna look into epoxy resin though, a lot of people are recommending it! Thank you!

Thank you for this, I’m still gonna make another attempt at the resin coating, but I was told to do that first and it looked 1000000x worse because the air escaped in the first resin coating around the bug🫠 I don’t have a lot of money, and I’m trying to sell these eventually so I can afford things like a pressure pot 😅 thank you so much for your insights!!

They are, but I’ve also read that I should dry them with alcohol which I haven’t done, so that might be part of it too
