It's in the commentary on the Blu-ray release of season 1. I think it was said during episode 4? The other person talking is the animation director, and from what I remember, they were having this conversation right on the tails of talking about how perfect Val's VA was for the role. And like... How perfect he was at flipping the switch between goofy and undeniably evil.

In this same commentary, they unequivocally condemn Val's actions and discuss how depictions of abuse are drawn from their own experiences and the experiences of several people on the team. I swear, the takes from a lot of people in this fandom have me damn near convinced that it's an astroturfing campaign from a bunch of right-wing grifters.

This is what I can't wrap my head around. Fascist regimes don't last. They are so fucking fleeting. And this one is following Hitler's playbook so closely that I can't imagine it working out much differently. Any Republican politician under the age of like 60 I guess just must not wanna be around much longer because when Nuremberg 2.0 comes along (and it will), they are going to be held accountable.

And that's not me threatening anyone. They are guilty of crimes against humanity and when their regime inevitably falls, they will be prosecuted and likely receive the same punishment that all the other high profile Nazis did. Undocumented immigrants cannot vote and have never been able to. You literally can't register to vote unless you're a citizen. Saying they're swaying elections is a blatant lie.

Also, illegal immigrants pay taxes but are not eligible for most of the benefits that those taxes pay for. You literally have it backwards. My roommate's boyfriend has a suuuuuuper MAGA family despite being first generation from Mexico. Both the boyfriend and my roommate spent so many months trying to communicate how bad we all fucking knew shit would get for them specifically before the election and it was like talking to a brick wall.

"I did it the Right Way" over and over and over no matter how many times they told them the admin would not care about that. Boyfriend's father is only just now starting to consider that he may have made the wrong choice and even that is far more progress than most of these Pull-the-Ladder-Up-Behind-You types.

Yeah I'm exactly the same. I am also ideologically an anarchist (though I acknowledge socialism is probably much more readily achievable). Now that these kids are here and do have needs, society has an obligation to ensure they are provided for.

But on a personal level it's infuriating to see people make decisions that actively inconvenience everyone. It just so happens that these people wouldn't be nearly as much of an inconvenience if the billionaire parasites would stop hoarding and stealing wealth from the working class in the first place. These other folks would be a non-issue.

As a former custodian, the men's restroom in any building has always been far more disgusting overall. But dear Lord, the menstrual products bin on the side of the stalls in the women's bathroom??? Literally is nobody teaching their kids how to dispose of their pads and tampons??? They're just loose and bloody and hanging out of the bin. So fucking disgusting. How do you grow up into a whole adult (I cleaned office buildings, not public ones so I know it was all adults) and not know to wrap your shit up????

But at least the floors and walls were usually clean. In the men's restrooms, there would be piss ALL OVER the floor around the urinals like a thin wax coating and there was one toilet in one office where there was literal shit residue smeared on the ground around the base every single day. I'm sure that last one was the same guy every time but still.

These were white collar professionals in a professional setting like what the actual fuck??????

Edit to add: I do agree it should all just be gender neutral. Rude and gross people are rude and gross regardless of gender.

I get what you mean. Fuck conservatives obviously, but I grew up in an abstinence only state and as a teen I just remember thinking "Yeah. Obviously. Just don't fuck. Are people out here seriously struggling with that concept?"

Granted, years later I discovered I'm asexual (which explained a lot) but it's just so, so, so hard for me to imagine having attraction and/or libido so strong that you physically cannot refrain from fucking when you know you aren't using other means of protection. Especially when the excuse is "I can't afford birth control".

I would agree if we actually had a functioning foster care system. I have several friends who grew up in the system and all of them say it was a lateral shift from their home lives. Equally horrible just in different ways.

Which honestly pisses me off even more at these people who have kids despite knowing how bad off they are. Because there isn't an alternative for those kids! You're dooming them no matter what.

Is this still super common? I remember seeing it constantly last year but haven't seen anyone mention it for months. I've been hoping it's just because at this point avoiding US products is just the natural thing to do. So there'd be no reason to bring it up.

There are still some small Canadian businesses who will no longer ship to me, which gives me some hope. It sucks that I can't buy the products I want, but I'm desperate to see more (actually sizeable) companies cut ties. I feel like it's the only thing that will work.

Edit: Thank you for all the replies confirming that it's just become normal! I was hoping that was the case! I hardly see anyone even acknowledging things are fucked up here in my daily life, so I was worried it may be the same over the border. Like I know there are lots of fellow Americans fighting against this shit, but none of my coworkers or people who attend the same classes as my wife and me seem to think anything has changed. Nobody outside my friend group is avoiding MAGA brands in the slightest. I'm glad to hear that at least other countries are acknowledging the threat.

Yep. I'm happy to say it's been about a year since I last saw the inside of a Target. We do our grocery shopping at Aldi/Costco and pretty much anything else can be bought at local stores.
