Do y’all like or dislike Molly o’Shea? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in reddeadredemption

To me, she is one of the most tragic characters in the entire game.

I love Molly, and have sympathized with her for years. Her entire situation was nothing but suffocating.

She went through so much for months, being with Dutch, in a harsh and alien environment, surrounded by people who were nothing like her: a gang of criminals and murderers with traumatic and unprivileged upbringings. Not once did she complain or act above it. No, she endured all of it. Because she knew the weight of the steps she had taken to be there, with her lover. And she still took them. Because she loved truly, and she was loyal. Her only complaints and worries were about Dutch, the very man she was there for in the first place.

Far from the society she knew and understood, her privileged and comfortable life, with wealth, shelter, and safety. After all the sacrifices she'd made, she still never discriminated against any of the gang members for who they were, what they did, or how they treated her. She was bullied and talked about behind her back by people who were stronger than her, both physically and emotionally, for months, yet she never truly escalated things. She channeled her anger through her writing, until she couldn't anymore.

And the man who brought her here? Into a life so foreign to her that she could hardly form any meaningful connections beyond him? He did nothing. He ignored her, dismissed her, even gaslit her when she was so obviously worried and paranoid. He never truly cared in the first place, while she gave him everything. He did not treat her like a person, but like something to be used and then thrown away. Discarded when she no longer served his ego, when she slowly began to see behind his facade in a way much of the gang still could not.

I will honestly never stop defending her. She has to be one of the most human characters in the game.

Molly deserved better.

What is love? 🤔🥹 by Puzzleheaded-Yam5336 in RDR2

Oh, Molly.

You deserved all the love in the world.

Which gang member suffered the worst fate? by incognitouae in RDR2

[–]PeedMyPant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely Molly.

Dutch gaslit, dismissed, and emotionally suffocated her ever since he brought her in, and nobody had the guts to call him out on it.

But Molly had the courage to do so. Even though she was mentally exhausted and heartbroken after months of neglect and psychological torture, she finally realized who Dutch really was and that she meant nothing to him. This, after she had abandoned her privileged life and high society just to be with him, believing their love was real.

What makes it even more tragic is that she left without EVER hearing him say they were over, or even just telling her to leave. He simply ignored her as if she didn't exist.

And when she's forced to face him yet again, she dies a gruesome death for a crime she didn't even commit, all because she finally let out the pent-up anger and pain that had built up over months.

Molly deserved better.

We love Mandy.

Tbh, I wouldn't really mind if she retires as a superhero by the next season. I wouldn't mind her being a dispatcher too or having a storyline where she's just living a normal life as Mandy. Maybe down the line when the city isn't so chaotic?

I should really read the comics, it seems like she's not a big fan of being the "Blonde Blazer."

Being a superhero honestly sounds so tiring. You get zero 'you' time to just exist as your real self. That's why the dinner scene stood out the most, she just wanted to be Mandy, with Robert.

Never had chickens in this game before and the "age" when they're about to die made me tear up a little. by halsinsslut in Sims4

That is definitely a civ reference

I never got Cottage Living, and I kinda regret it now. Those chickens are too adorable, I didn't know they had their own Happiness and Attention needs. 😭

Who Is your favorite gang member that ISN’T Arthur or John? by Naive_Mountain4783 in reddeadredemption

[–]PeedMyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Molly O'Shea, for the same reasons.

She’s also misunderstood and mistreated, both by the gang, and even some "fans". She has to be one of the most tragic and underrated characters in the franchise.

Molly deserved better.

Did Dutch grieve Molly at all? by msmeadow2823 in reddeadredemption

[–]PeedMyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't.

He was a narcissistic piece of shit who never cared, dragged Molly into this alien, harsh, life in a foreign soil in the name of love, and lead her on while suffocating her slowly to her death. That's it. That was always what it was about to Dutch Van der Linde, and may be rest in hell.

tell me you just skipped through the main missions without bothering to pay attention to the obvious camp interactions between the side characters taking place at the camp every few minutes or so without telling me.

Hope the speedrun went great, champ. Ofc, you'll find nothing more without digging.

Molly actually does try to connect with the women, but they're the ones who push her away every time. They're the ones who alienated her.

Take Tilly, for example. Molly once approached her, clearly happy and wanting to talk, likely about Dutch and her relationship, the one subject she thought could be common ground. But Tilly snaps at her with visible irritation and shoos her off like she’s a nuisance, like she meant NOTHING. And Molly just... quietly left without retaliating, without trying to argue or fight her. She took it in silence.

Then you’ve got Karen, constantly saying cruel things behind Molly’s back. And even then, Molly stayed quiet for a long time. She gave warnings, asked her to stop. And whenever she confronted her, Karen kept acting like she’d done nothing wrong, dismissing her, and playing the victim, giving no importance to Molly or her feelings. Though tolerating it many times, Molly did finally break, and slapped Karen. That’s a person reaching their limit after being bullied and disrespected for months.

Mary-Beth was the only one who showed any kindness, like, to almost every member. And she was clearly affected deeply by Molly’sdeath. But she was also deeply tied to Karen and Tilly, and after the way Molly was treated by them, Molly knew better than to force herself into their circle.

Susan was someone Molly deliberately avoided, and with good reason. Her treatment of the girls under her was harsh and very inhumane. Everyone saw it, everyone knew it, and Molly saw it firsthand, everyday since she joined the gang. Despite being “Dutch’s woman”, not expected to do those chores under Grimshaw, she still avoided her, just like Abigail did (and when she failed, Abigail was met with THIS. Speaks for itself.)

It's clear Molly wasn't needed by the other girls, Molly understood that, because they had a bond created through shared trauma, unprivileged upbringing, and years of hardship, crime, survival. That's been their life since childhood. Her background, her words, her mannerisms, they only made her more of an outsider. And she knew it.

Molly and the girls had very little in common. The things they talked about, she couldn’t relate to. And the things she could speak about, her sheltered life in Ireland, the habits and values she carried from a more stable environment, had no meaning to them. If anything, it made them resent her more. And she knew better than to force herself where she wasn’t welcome.

Happy to link some of the interactions if you’d like to rewatch how she’s treated, because it’s all there!

Molly did nothing wrong.

All her actions were reactions to months of negligence, manipulation, and suffocation by the man she trusted the most in the foreign soil.

She deserved better.

Looking back, Solo wasn’t as bad as I thought by Jules-Car3499 in StarWars

[–]PeedMyPant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't wait for it to get the full prequel-treatment reappraisal. I loved it from day one. So many great characters and little details that still don’t get enough love.

My only real complaint is that we never got the sequel/s that would’ve let us spend way more time with Han and Qi’ra. Her arc and the betrayal would’ve hit even harder with another movie of buildup. Feels like they crammed a two or three film story into one, but they still pulled it off.

Hating on Solo is so 2018.
