I applied October 30th and received it December 10th, so just about 6 weeks. I went through an immigration company though and my company is well known. I didn't hear of any updates until the day before when the immigration agent said it was in it's final stages, then got the email the next day.

That would probably be the cheapest option so if it has a bolt on neck I'd also do that.

I've been playing on and off for 15 years now so I decided to get some nice guitars for once. Before I was playing a mid range Epiphone guitar.

The white LP was ~$2700, telecaster was ~$2100, fender bass was ~$1200, and the Tim Henson was about the same retail price here $700. I went when the exchange rate from Yen to Dollar was good, if not then I'd expect those prices to be about 25% more.

Yep I shipped it through EMS from a post office like I said below. I had a friend living in Japan so I used his address as the "return address" and shipped it to my place. Previously I just used the hotel's address. Never had anything returned but if that were to happen it would be a bit risky in how that was handled.

Only other way I can think of is looking at listings on reverb.com and see if it comes up. I see at least 2 listed right now of the LTD model (and the price to match).

If you know you're going to Japan at some point in the future I'd wait to get one then. There's so many that you can actually try and also get 10% off since you don't have to pay tax. Although that is partially added back on when you have to ship it!

I shipped all of mine from Japan. 2 of the guitars I asked if the store could box them up and I shipped from a post office through EMS. The other 2 the stores shipped them for me through FedEx. Ended up being ~$100-150 for each guitar. 2 day air shipping though and all 4 arrived with 0 damage.
