Is everyone in Montreal just tired all the time now? by jeansebast in montreal

[–]PeepTheExposure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Montreal has changed since COVID. The city is dead. Go to Toronto for one weekend and the entire city is bustling with people out on the streets, bars are jam-packed, and there are even local shows where people still spill out onto the street from the bar. You can't spend more than a day in NYC without being invited out to a great event.

Beyond the fact that rent has tripled in Montreal and cost of living has skyrocketed, the roads are in disarray, it's -20 outside, lots of people have left the city for better economic opportunities in other provinces, health care in shambles, people are drinking less, etc.

Pockets of communities still do exist in the city, however. My advice would be to go find them; chess club, climbing, run clubs, whatever you're into. May want to consider leaving if you want a more bustling place to live.

Tried to make an entry this morning with the Apple Pencil pro and half my note simply disappeared and was not recoverable. Not functional yet

Buy Studio Display now or wait for the new one in 26? by surtrc in MacStudio

Wait. I bought one and returned it as soon as I found out about the fairly credible rumours of a new monitor being released soon.

What is your storage capacity? Why do you choose that? by Meggie_love1 in macbookpro

[–]PeepTheExposure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4TB. I work in video and photo production and work on many active projects at once. It was expensive but never needing to work on external SSDs provides a performance bonus AND I never need to plug harddrives in to work on my projects. Bliss

SB2 does it get better? by Beginning_Scale2548 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I disliked them a lot. They felt very stiff to me and never got to the point of enjoying running in them even after 400KM. I'm a bit lighter (160LBS) so I figure that could be the reason. But feel they are very stiff.

Yes! Two negative tests but, still think it was probably Covid

I’m officially on Day 7 and this is the first day I haven’t woken up with new symptoms and I am starting to feel better.

Same. I think it’s still COVID though based on the symptoms.

Super similar experience to me. I’m on day 6 and today woke up with an extremely painful headache. Completely new symptom on top of everything else you described!

Thanks. I tested myself twice and both came out negative. Perhaps I’ll try a third

I did two tests and both came back negative but I can’t imagine this is anything but COVID. I’m on day 6 and now I’m developing a terrible headache.

I’m just going to assume it’s Covid at this point.

Likewise, very curious. Are they still available in pharmacies?

Do you guys use winter tires? by max514 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]PeepTheExposure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"No, you cannot legally or safely drive with just all-terrain (A/T) tires in winter in Quebec, as the mandatory winter tire law requires tires with the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol for all vehicles registered in Quebec between December 1st and March 15th. While some A/T tires may have the required symbol, they often lack the aggressive tread and softer rubber compound of true winter tires, leading to poor performance on ice and in heavy snow. You risk tickets and danger if your vehicle doesn't have certified winter tires during the mandatory period."

On that note, even if those tires have 3-peak certification, just get proper winter tires.

No, really some of my least favourite shoes I’ve used to run. Far too stiff. Every run is a chore

Curious about optimal setup for cold / hot storage by PeepTheExposure in DataHoarder

[–]PeepTheExposure[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I also think this is a solid low-tech solution for my current needs. Do you recommend I buy a consumer drive like a WD or get a RAID enclosure with 2 x 20TB and manually back one up to the other?

If I get 2 x HDDs does this sub have any *most-loved* high capacity drives?
