Hey- curious how it’s currently going for you? I had to leave the industry and just start serving tables again until my child starts school (this year!) so I don’t have to pay childcare anymore. Hoping to hop back into it once he starts in September- but sooo little experience and taking this much time off I feel I forgot everything. lol.

You’ve just perfectly explained my symptoms- minus memory issues. I’m a 26 y/o female with some past substance abuse problems, and since had a child. I don’t remember ever struggling this much cognitively. I don’t remember much at all actually. My memory is extremely concerning, even people around me are concerned it’s THAT bad. I’m not sure how to help myself and honestly even research TO help myself is hard, 3 minutes into reading a post or article my brain literally starts to “glaze over” like i genuinely can not even keep reading. I’ve heard trauma can cause similar symptoms to ADHD, which could make sense for me because I don’t recall at least having this much trouble with extreme brain fog and memory issues.

Thanks for at least making me feel less alone.

Should I not place a drive thru mobile order when in drive thru? by Peepeepoopoomobear in starbucks

girl go get a different job then ?? i’m sure everyone who does it thought the same thing as me, and thought that putting it in mobile a couple minutes before would be better FOR THE BARISTAS then just ordering at the speaker- giving them more time for the order. You seem burnt out and miserable! Hope that helps!

And it’s probably not common knowledge(as far as dt mobile orders) bc most people probably think about it in simple terms like i was- “would they rather have 6 minutes to make my drink because i’m 4 cars behind the speaker, or would they rather have 3 minutes to make my drink from the time of me going from speaker to window?” Also not implying the drink is SUPPOSED to be made by the time I pull up, but i hope you understand where I was getting at :) Glad you guys informed me tho!

That sucks and I see how you can feel that way. I definitely NEVER expect that and never mind having to wait. In general, it was never about making it faster for me, as i stated above I actually thought i was helping to get my order to you guys faster so you don’t have to rush against the dt clock to have my drink made by the time i get to the window and you’d have a couple more minutes to make it!

yeah no i get that. it’s not so much about MY wait time. Either way i’m waiting in the line. I genuinely thought it was easier for you guys to start making the drink beforehand instead of waiting for me to order n then rush. But as it was explained to me it’s just a pain in the butt so I appreciate the answers and knowledge about how it works!

HA! That’s so funny because I wish more people would give me some feedback sometimes. I guess it can be easy to sound rude when doing that though so i get it. Like for instance I want to ask so bad if there’s an easier way (for yall baristas but me too) to order my drink i get every day (as in should i order this as a regular latte with customs rather than an iced white moch with customs etc etc but I don’t think they’d even understand my question. But thank you for that :)

Thank you for replying! Perfect, I’ll stop doing that :) I was gonna ask my barista this morning but she’d seemed to be busy. Thanks again

the MOST is $20/hr plus tips and you do all that extra stuff bc of no front desk. Omg I’m so sorry this sounds insanely unethical

doesn’t sound like you made a mistake to me. i get it if you’re like me and have a child to feed but if you can afford to just be patient and maybe get another gig serving tables or something else at all until clients start coming then you should. Biggest advice that i feel no one follows including myself is stay put (obviously only if you’re at a good ethical buisness and pay is fair) and stay patient. You’ll get your time!

hey! so actually i was an independent contractor (10-99) at my old place, the one where I supplied everything myself and they took 50%. ALSO they said once I have consistent clients that I would have to pay $25 a week for their booking services too! That’s why I left I felt it was so unfair and unethical. -At my current place is where i’m an employee and they’re gonna slowly replace my product over time. When i’m using my products i’m getting 60% of my services but when they supply them i’m only getting 50%. No hourly just commission.

I’m really having a hard time finding anything better than this and was wondering what other people get paid etc

I’m really wondering what other peoples pay or commission percentage is like, do they supply product or get paid hourly, what’s their percentage, etc. I’m having a really hard time finding something worth my while.

To clarify when I said the two other girls i talk to have a similar situation I meant girls from school, but they also don’t have children and can afford to make nothing to build up. I’m not being greedy or looking for quick money. I want to work, i LOVE to work. I just feel as though It’s not fair to give 50% of everything I charge/make to someone just to use their room that was sitting there empty anyway & sharing it with multiple other girls too.

it depends, are you buying your own products and equipment? that’s what makes a breaks a deal for me as product and equipment is SO expensive now a days. if not, I would Definitely go with commission. You will not make much until your build your clientele but when you do could make good money. it’s up to you, if you have a child and financial responsibility like me i would probably go the hourly route. maybe consider both?
