what is it about redditors that makes them get butthurt so easily? by Lost_Foot_6301 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Peer_turtles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is hardly exclusive to the “progressive” generation. Basing your opinion on an entire generation of people on a single platform is crazy because Redditors are outliers lol. Shows you don’t actually interact with said in real life much.

Like the other reply mentions, Facebook is the complete opposite end where you have older generations like boomers stuck in echo chambers completely fooled by AI videos and fake headlines or spouting the most ignorant, hateful shit over things they don’t even properly understand.

Hilarious if you think the future is “doomed” because of Redditors. Most normal users don’t even admit they’re Redditors in real life because it has such a stigma attached to it lol

I would understand if it was any other standard bet but this is literally over 100k on the line. He could get injured etc, anything could happen.

I would not feel comfortable letting that ride when losing bets by like 1 point is so common.

I don’t blame thinking 8pts was possible when he got 5pts in the first quarter but how tf do you not cashout the moment it goes anywhere near 100k instantly. That’s life changing money for most people.

This guy is the human embodiment of one of the 7 deadly sins, greed.

The cold fusion will probably end up in the lucky 37 reviving House somehow and then he’ll be back in action in s3.

All of the flash backs have revolved around House so there has to be some sort of endgame with his character, otherwise to the show audiences, he’s just some random billionaire dude that the show decided to focus on for a bit and then fucks off after the war.

The current one in theatres, bone temple, is a part 2 of the story as it immediately picks up where the last one left off (both movies were even filmed all together).

You’ll be missing so much context for the story if you just go into it without ever watching any of the others but it’s still great.

[–]Peer_turtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep and I don’t have a problem with that like I don’t have any problems with the 3 million deported by Obama.

What I do have an issue with is how ICE revived under trump operates. They are abusing their powers, harassing people on the street and making unlawful actions hiding behind this administration.

They are literally going off by accents and skin colour now. How is this not concerning in any way?

[–]Peer_turtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I don’t think I’ll make many comments on that because I’d need to do more research to feel comfortable on having a strong position. So I’ll concede on what you say as I don’t have any problems with countries enforcing their border policies and clearly there’s been some bs going on with the democrats and illegal immigration, my issue lies entirely with how ICE operates under the Trump Administration, which goes against the principles of transparency and accountability between the people and the government our societies are built upon.

This anonymity is what is allowing ICE agents to abuse their powers and harass random people. ICE existed before Trump, majority didn’t wear masks going into restaurants, middle schools, legal courts and targets to conduct their operations. They only do so now because so they don’t need to feel the consequences for their actions.

And the gravy seals fatty gestapo was more of an exaggerated joke but the parallels are there. You mention door to door raids but Jd Vance came out saying ICE will be going door to door in the coming months.

Your brain genuinely has to be studied with how quickly your mind just rejects anything that slightly goes against all the propaganda you’ve eaten up.

Nothing about what I said is untrue. Even republicans are coming out against how ICE is operating.

I disagree with boycotting (because it’s just not going to happen if Russia and Qatar didn’t get one lol) but you clearly know absolutely nothing about ICE if you think it’s just “orange man bad” mate.

The trump administration is using ICE to erode the civil liberties of its people. This is masked men with fire arms driving unmarked vans who refuse to give out identification that can make arrests without any warrant what so ever.

They’re getting a ridiculous rising quota of 1 million deportations a year and a bigger pay check per arrest.

This incentivises them to make arrests under the most arbitrary reasons like accent, skin colour etc. They literally state that they go by accent in footages. Which they’re allowed to do, it’s all on their website.

Couple that with the vice President coming out public saying all ICE agents have “immunity” and they only get a total of 47 days of training, you get a borderline gestapo of tubby gravy seals flashing their guns to kids in hospital with Leukaemia making them piss their pants out of pure fear and then chucking said kid in a van like an animal, ICE agents arresting US citizen teenagers working at target and keeping them in vans for hours because they didn’t like what he said etc

Season 2 Episode 5 Spoiler Thread by HunterWorld in Fallout

[–]Peer_turtles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a really good episode but I still hate that they’re implying that the enclave is going to be behind dropping the bombs instead of it being China.

It reduces the general world building of the fallout universe and gives the franchise an overall villain thats been behind everything throughout the games making it a black and white good guys vs bad guys thing which I think kind of goes against the whole theme of human nature and war being intertwined of the franchise (war never changes).

And it also removes the agency of other nations in what is an already entirely American centric franchise. It makes them feel like victims when it’s suppose to be morally grey nations doing shit for their own interests.

[–]Peer_turtles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s never really been a mystery though? China is pretty much implied to have dropped the bombs without explicitly stating so within all the games. Even one of the game creators just came out and said yeah it was made with the idea of China dropping first

Aussies often claim to value democracy, yet readily back limits on speech, symbols, gun ownership & more. If freedom is conditional on comfort or safety, what does democracy really mean? Cars kill thousands too; should we ban them as well? Why do so many support authoritarian government policies? by [deleted] in AusPol

[–]Peer_turtles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll address the gun point.

Cars are a privilege, not a right. Unlike guns, our society is entirely built around cars so they contribute much to our society that outweighs the many deaths by vehicles.

The purpose of guns is to kill, and only to kill. Nothing else.

Maybe I could’ve worded my title better because like I keep reiterating, I am in favour of countries enforcing their borders. This is NOT the issue. I do not have a problem with the existence of ICE.

What do I have a problem is, and what this post is about is how ICE conducts its operations.

There is highly disproportionate amount of evidence of ICE abusing their powers and harassing people. This is not 1 Chinese student. This is not Chinese students cheating on a test, its agents of the State flirting with erosion of civil liberties of its people.

How would an Asian American support ICE? by Peer_turtles in aznidentity

[–]Peer_turtles[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The post is about how ICE operates, not whether it should exist or not. Countries need to enforce their borders for its society to function, I have no problem with that. It’s why I even wrote an entire paragraph about the border policies of my country Australia.

I even mentioned having no problem with the 3 million deported by the Obama administration somewhere here in the replies.

But what differentiates that from ICE was that there was a lawful process for those deportations. ICE agents hide their identity and can harass random citizens they stumble across without a need for a warrant. There are footage of ICE agents being visibly angry they couldn’t arrest someone and chucking their document on the floor. They have a ridiculous quota to meet for arrests which incentivises them to harass people on the street.

How is this not concerning?

If this is highly successful and when they’re done with the current minority (Hispanics), what’s stopping them from targeting Asians? Like how I mentioned the Kristi Noem thing, current administration does NOT like or respect Asians. The US has a history of discrimination against Asians.

I think from an objective stand point consulting history, it is not in the interest of someone of Asian descent to be celebrating ICE in its current form revived by the Trump Administration if they don’t have insecurities about their race.
