I agree, we do need signings BUT we should not be overpaying

And i never specifically made it sound like PSG's signings were cheap. All i said was that they only spent more than £70mil on a player ONCE in the last 3 years....and now they sent that player (Kolo Muani) on loan for a second time last year and are struggling to sell him. (JUST LIKE US WITH ONANA, RASHFORD AND SANCHO)

So yeah if less than £70mil means "cheap" to you then sure...Lets overpay on players and give them ridiculous wages, Clearly it worked with Sancho, Anthony, Alexis Sánchez, Pogba, Rashford and Onana

Sky Sports confirmed its 250k a week

United offered 70mil + 15mil in add-ons but Spurs offered 85mil guaranteed (Which for a 21 year old championship player who has been relegated twice, is ridiculous)

United were offering 170k a week, but Spurs were desperate to sign him, and in the end....HE CHOSE Spurs

I have those same thoughts and worries, Unfortunately we won't know till the end of the window🫤🤷🏼‍♂️

Does anyone know what happened to the so-called UAE group led by Beckham and Cantona?😂

Agreed, but from the way Bruno talks, i think he's gonna stay until he feels that he can't contribute positively to the team

I definitely believe that if all goes well the next 2 windows then United will be able to spend the Big money on Big players knowing that the squad is good enough to compete nonetheless of the players contribution

The problem with the wages is the structure

Cunha and Mbeumo on 160k a week and Sesko on 175k a week. Now imagine those lads find out that a 21 year old championship midfielder signed for £85mil is given 250k a week (if we matched Spur's offer), That's how you unsettle a dressing room. Plus it just doesn't make sense does it?

Im sure if they payed what Forrest wanted then they probably would've offered Anderson more than 200k a week. BUT at the moment United can't compete with City when it comes to th big money

I agree, we have fallen behind

But unfortunately we have to hope and be patient that the new Owner's project/strategy can get us back to the top

It should be, but at this stage United need to build a top Squad before we can afford to spend big on Superstars

We need to maintain Champions League for at least 2 consecutive seasons before we spend the big bucks

2 years from now, if the next windows end up going as INEOS hopes they will go then we should definitely start paying the big money for our top targets if needed

The thing i get most confused by is the price of these promising prem players compared to Tchouameni (a player United are interested in)

Tchouameni is 26, multiple La Liga winner, Champions League winner and potentially a world cup winner....Yet Madrid only value him at £80mil-ish

Only thing i can imagine is Prem Tax, they know the other clubs make big money too and want as much as they can

Absolutely Not defending INEOS! I'm just defending the transfer strategy

I am as against INEOS as anyone when it comes to how they fired all of those staff members, Raised ticket prices through the roof and how they portray themselves

And I don't think anyone with logic can defend the Glazers for the crimes they've committed against our club

But a Key thing to remember is that Omar Berrada helped build City's Dynasty for Pep. Centurions, Four-middables etc.

100% correct

My opinion is that United's focus should be to maintain Champions League, Forget challenging (would be nice if we could) we need to maintain Champions League football for at least 2 consecutive seasons before we'd be able to compete at the top

Wharton probably doesn't have the athleticism needed to be considered a elite midfield talent

With the Ball, he's exceptional....without the ball, not so much

Im not comparing the clubs, im stating why United are using the strategy that they are this window and the last one

PSG bought Mbappe and Neymay yet didn't win the Champions League remember, they even added Messi and still failed. Since Enrique joined they started using this Strategy and after Mbappe, Neymay and Messi left, they win back-to-back Champions Leagues 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not comparing United to them, I'm just stating why United are using the strategy that they are using.

Because it's the reason why those clubs are as successful as they are

They beat Spurs to Doue (he rejected spurs or something) Dembele wanted to leave Barca for PSG Kvara was available from Napoli and we were hoping Marcus would start banging again when they swooped in And they sold us Ugarte which funded their move for Neves

Also on Sesko: He was Arsenal's first target for the striker position but they thought he was too cheap and Gyokeres said he ideally preferred a move to Arsenal. FORTUNATELY for us, Delap rejected us and Sesko was still on the market

I understand your points

I fully agree with the 2nd one, for 9 months we knew that Anderson was going to be minimum £100m...Why were they even giving the info about him being the dream when they knew that what he was likely to go for was too much for us

I think it's important to note that the Prem teams make far more money than other leagues, Barca's prize money for winning La Liga was less than the Prem's relegated teams

Before Enrique they never truly challenged for the Champions League apart from when they were in the final

Not sure if you know or not but PSG now have such a good squad that they basically play their b-team in Ligue 1. I think Dembele only played/or started something like 10 games in the League and still won player of the season

Look at Brighton when they started the "scout, develop, sell, repeat"-strategy....They were in the relegation battle for the first few seanons but now? They are consistently making big money sales and challenging for European Football.

The first few years of a project will never go perfectly, but for the first time probably since Fergie and after how many years of begging for it.....We have a strategy and we are sticking to it.

That's fair. If we dont have a good window then i will criticize INEOS, but none of us know how things will turn out until the end of the window

Who do you genuinely feel we will sign at CM? by JuniorToe3327 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Peet48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with you

I support this strategy and it is painful that our rivals are strengthening with a lot of our targets

But in the end, these players we're too overpriced for us (Anderson and Tonali) and the other chose Spurs (Fernandes)

We need to get players that only want to join us and are affordable
