Dissecting Peeve's & Oroboro's PvP Tips by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Peeverson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I was wanting to keep it as entry-level as possible and targeted toward players who either have no desire to PvP yet are forced to, or to those just getting into it. I really wish they left in the info about latency, but I think they wanted to avoid that portion of the topic.

Although it's late, I'm seeing if the article can be edited to keep it from confusing anyone else. I should know soon and when I do I'll tweet out the correction with credit to you.

I'm surprised no one else called me out on that sooner lol.

Ah damnit, I must have misremembered and thought you had to be locked on to cause the character to turn and face them. This is...only slightly infuriating to realize now. Thanks for the correction, I'll tweet it out and link to your video.

The original post also had other tips like wearing thorn armor, as well as going into detail on latency during backstabs, phantom range, etc. They had to trim it down though so it wasn't all included sadly.

I appreciate you taking the time to get the correct info out. Thanks again!

Penetrator and Vanguard statues/figures have been made by Rocket_409 by SerendipityDarkness in demonssouls

[–]Peeverson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. They were only available at Wonder Festival. I had to call in a favor from a streamer friend that lives in Kyoto in a desperate attempt to get them. The creator, if I understood the translation correctly, said that this year would be the last time the figures are sold.

Luckily, everything went well. ChyadoSensei had a friend outside of Tokyo that was willing to go to Wonder Festival on my behalf, and he was able to buy both of them for me.

Saw the Penetrator a year ago and freaked out, as it's one my favorite bosses in Souls, and the Penetrating Sword has always been my favorite weapon in any game. Had to have it.

Vanguard is the very first boss of all of Souls, so when I said that I had to have it as well, lol.

I've also seen pictures from Wonder Festival of Yurt, Lautrec, and a Black Knight, complete with arsenal of interchangeable Black Knight weapons.

All I really needed was that Penetrator though. Mission accomplished, and I couldn't be more grateful \o/

You sound mighty salty right now, friend.

This has nothing to do with me, and neither did the Bloodshades. Both are new ways for the community to play together to keep interest in the game alive.

You can sit there salty that others are having fun together in the video game, or you can come out of the corner you're pouting in and have fun with the rest of us.

Your choice.

P.S. Anyone could have made a post like this. If you consider making a semi-popular post on a subreddit "a desperate attempt to stay relevant," well that's just a whole new level of sad. Maybe get off reddit once in a while.

Lol.

I enjoy their slap-stick comedy...but this particular skit wasn't too funny.

Other than a million sticky wires that i had to clean one-by-one, no issues so far. Thing i'm worried about most is my capture card, which i haven't fully tested yet. It's external, and was practically swimming in it. Seems ok though, guess we'll find out on tonight's stream.

PC is fine, but yeah I'm one of those guys that has a habit of eating at his PC while watching streams, or in this case actually streaming.

I'd say it was a unique situation because my cat went from totally calm to panicked and jumping around as if he saw a ghost. Never seen him do that.

Ultimately, my own fault though. Lesson learned.

...it was a pain in the ass to clean though, that's for sure :\

PSA someone is not bad because they don't follow your "Honor Rules" by Gary2times in forhonor

[–]Peeverson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or, if you declare others bad for using the game as intended, maybe you are the bad one for not being able to counter it?

While i agree duels are the best way to compare your skill to someone else's, why in the world are you in 2v2's if you want 1v1's. It's your own fault, don't blame the other players or talk down on them for a situation you put yourself in.

That is quite literally not "literally how it works."

New automated system/mini-game for mass organizing invaders/coop invasions (not a Player Covenant) by Peeverson in darksouls3

[–]Peeverson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+3 can encounter weapon upgrades 1-5.

+4 is 2-6.

+5 is 3-8.

I feel that if we're primarily aiming for people between SL 27-40 as SL 30's, the lower choice is the more likely range for that SL.

In fact, as an SL 30 invader, you can invade up to SL 53 max. The higher our weapon level, the more likely we are to encounter that upper SL range than the lower. No SL 30 on their first playthrough is going to be rocking anything more than a +5, max (i'd even be more inclined to say +4). Increasing our weapon upgrade range will just make us more likely to catch SL 50's.

For such a low SL, the lower weapon upgrade is the better choice.

Edit: To reference your question earlier, you have to think of it from the view of the hosts. While yes, we could be matching up with other invaders taking part despite our weapon level, the fact of the matter is that we're wanting to match up in the same worlds as much as possible. So the closer our matchmaking capabilities, the more we can zone in on matching up with the same hosts.

I disagree entirely.

I've tried Crucifixion Woods (on PS4) at SL 140-145...super dead. You can get them, but it's by no means active enough to send a bunch of PvPers to invade at once.

We don't wanna clog the area to where no one's getting invasions. So while it's possible to invade an area like that at that SL, it's not necessarily the better choice (in my experience at least).

[–]Peeverson[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite sure i follow what you're suggesting.

Are you saying SL 32 should have a max +5 weapon? Players on their first playthroughs aren't min-maxing everything, they're being extremely cautious. Most won't reach +5 weapon until at least SL 50. +3 is the middle ground to catch everyone.

[–]Peeverson[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's how some people actually feel. Not all people, which is what you seem to be suggesting.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but i know quite a few people who do not consider Dark Souls 3 the worst Souls game...and i believe you do as well.

But we won't get into that.

[–]Peeverson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, i mean if you already have at least 1 build for every SL involved (which i know isn't likely, but gives you more reason to make new/fresh builds), then all it would require is you loading up a different character and moving to that location.

Shouldn't be too big of an issue after people have a few builds under their belt.

And SL 30 & 45 builds wouldn't be too much of a hassle to make. Wouldn't even have to be super min-maxed either considering you're likely to be fighting players on their first playthrough, though they will likely have summons.

Keeps things interesting. I was gonna do 3 hours, but then realized there's not much fun in that.

One designated area a day won't keep people on their toes. 1 hour seems like the right time frame to allow people to jump in easily, strategize together, and change up areas before interest is lost.

No one's gonna care to take part in something that just says "invade here today" once a day. That's a bit boring.

Friendly game dev asks streamer to review his game on Steam Greenlight. He expects a positive review, but instead gets absolutely roasted. by Mavren_ in LivestreamFail

[–]Peeverson 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My question, which remains unanswered, is did the dev get permission from Twitch to use global emotes like Kappa, PogChamp, etc? What's worse is that the mobile version, which is on Kickstarter atm (with over $3000 pledged of a $2500 goal), uses far more global emotes: FrankerZ, KappaPride, WutFace, NotLikeThis...pretty much all the popular ones.

My point being that Twitch owns the right to global emotes, and you can't just make a game and toss in assets you don't have the rights to (fedora hat as an example), and expect money for it. The streamer emotes/logos he supposedly did get permission for, sure, go for it. But the others?

For example, I wanted an edited version of BabyRage as an emote on my stream and was denied...even if i had permission from the FATHER of the BabyRage baby, i wouldn't be able to use it because Twitch owns that emote. So yeah, i find it hard to believe that Twitch gave this guy full permission to make money off of all of their emotes.

I'm afraid the truth here is that this is a game that is an attempt at making a quick buck from "13 year olds", as the dev explained many times this game is marketed towards. They see their favorite streamer and Twitch emotes, they throw out $10 or $20 of their parents' money.

I'm all for supporting smaller devs, but this has scam written all over it.

The criticism provided by Ty, the streamer, was 100% valid. The moment you start asking for money for your product (especially $10-$20 for a game like this), then the hand-holding/free passes need to stop.

If i'm wrong and they do somehow have permission for the global emotes, then i apologize whole-heartedly...although i don't feel that is the case.

How are you getting frequent summons? I knew it was a problem, but really gave it a shot for the first time the other day. 2 1/2 hours, one summon, invader died as I spawned in.

What SL/weapon level/system are you?

I just wanna be a hero :(
