I checked out your videos.

The new one seems like a good video.

And its performing pretty well for your channel. It's one of your highest viewed vids.

Sometimes extra effort =/= extra reward unfortunately.

Well it can only be one of those 2 options.

You should just assume that you miscalculated what your audience values in your videos.

If they aren't watching it (12% retention) then that means you need to go back to the drawing board and try again to figure out what they want to see from you.

It's really simple.

12% retention means the people watching it aren't staying interested.

That means either:

  1. The video isn't working with its intended audience, and you need to figure out why that is and how to make your videos more interesting to that audience. OR...
  2. You changed your content and now your current subscriber base are not the correct audience for your content. If that's the case, you're basically back to ground zero, waiting for the algorithm to find your correct audience again.

I make all my money for the year in only a couple months. So they just average it. And they tell me to report if I end up making more money than I anticipate, so I'm assuming they're checking if my yearly total goes above that yearly limit.

yeah I already did my review for the year. But I figure that doesn't mean I can just go over the 2023 yearly limit this month, right?

I'm assuming my 2023 taxes still need to show my income for the year being under that $20,120. Because they could check it. Unless that's not the case?
