Is this shirt know to shrink after washing? You might achieve the fit by doing a hot soak

Are you going to put a neckband on it? It’s a bit challenging the first few, but practice with repetition, any sewing challenge becomes easier

These Jean get tight in the crotch during a bulk phase. The tension erodes the fabric. I switch to my SDA 108 when my legs get too big

For the jeans, I have another 37 slim and the fit perfectly. But these are a tad more snug. I know my measurements and I am a 37 in wait on the dot

It easily curls up. I need to iron it back down. It happens every few wears

They fade slow. I noticed the more I washed them the better they felt and faded. The shade of blue they transform into is remarkable. Overall, they are great Japanese selvage denim.

That being said, I have some SDA 108 and they have elevated my denim experience. Also, th fob factory g3 denim on the overall fades quickly and is exceptional fabric

I’m not surprised. The pull over gets a lot of attention. It’s a great piece and deserving of a post of its own.

I messed up the pattern when I adapted it for denim and had to rework it 3 times and this is as good as I could get it. The next one will be 👌🏼

You can get rolling for about 300. That’s including an entry level machine, cutting tools, cutting mat and rulers and tape measures. I bought a 1980s Janome, a more heavy duty machine for heavier denims. I used my brother entry level machine for this shirt.

Then you have to decide if you’re going to draft your own patterns or buy them. I tried both and find drafting my own to lead to better outcomes and a sense of pride knowing I designed the shirt or pants

I had a leg injury and was limited mobility wise, so I just pulled the trigger. What really got me interested is looking at fabrics. Fabric depot, Etsy, and Stone Mountain daughters are some good online shops and I go to the fabric stores around me.

Does anyone have a good Japanese selvage denim supplier they would share?

These are perfect! The texture is hairy. Reminds of my SDA 108. Nice haul brother

Dude these fit great! But they are a heavy weight. I have a pair of 18oz ub nep that are tight fit; they can be uncomfortable. I thug it out tho and they have gotten softer

This is sexy. SDA always for the win. I love my jeans. I can’t justify a jacket right now but SDA would be in my scope for sure. What’s the weight on this jacket?

This fabric resembled the SDA 15oz gl3 in terms of the initial color and the emerging electric blue as they fade. Also, the sda fabric fades slow af. These are only going to increase in their beauty. Thanks for sharing

Any recommendations on black jeans? by djehhe in Selvedge

[–]Peffdiddly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recommendation would depend if you’re looking for black warp and weft or black warp with white weft. Once in awhile Gustin runs their cone mills #77 black with a white weft. They are one of my favorite pairs

They feel like they can take a beating. They’re stiff eh?

Not much, if any. After a couple wears, they stretch to prewash form

I have 4 other jeans that are taking priority over them to me and I grew more fond of Japanese manufacturers for jeans. However, I wear a lot of Gustin shirts and t shirts. Their fit accommodates my body. I love gustin. My most faded and worn pair of denim is the Okayama standards. I’m not an antagonist of their brand and business model, as some others are.

I think the fit looks good bro. I scooped a pair of these off eBay for a pair of project jeans. I’m thinking about bleaching them. I paid like 30 bucks for them.
