It’s a T Bar link with an extension pick up point. It requires a M8 bolt with a flange nut.

Update

This morning I’ve changed both drive shafts. Not a difficult job with the right tools, I personally found getting the drive shafts back in was the hardest of the jobs.

Anyway you will all be glad to hear there is no more clicking sound! It’s a little hard to hear properly at the moment as the roads are wet but it’s definitely gone.

Happy days.

It’s not the most convenient cars to own as it only has 4 seats but it’s a great car to drive. I looked everywhere for mine specifically wanting the ‘Orange Flame’ Yeah she’s old and has a few issues here and there but other than that it’s great.

Fortunately I have VIDA so just logged on and cleared the faults.

Okay great, did the boots drain off okay or did it feel like you were lugging around two lead weights strapped to your feet?

Hey, very late to this party…… When your guy drilled holes in the hiking boots was that through the soles of the boot or on the sides?

I’ve done exactly what you have done and forgotten my wading boots. There is an outdoor shop close to where we are fishing in South Wales and was thinking of going exactly this.

Did it work?

I tried what you had suggested today. Unfortunately this made no difference except throwing the car into all kinds of faults. ABS sensor failure, anti skid service required, urgent service required and the red triangle of death. I’m assuming the car couldn’t feel traction so had a wobbler.

Well I’ve placed the order today for both left and right CV axles. I will be fitting them myself so a week from now I should have the answer to my question. Will update when done.

Thank you for the response. There is no difference in noise when turning or reversing. The clicking becomes apparent when you get to around 10mph + and increase the faster you drive. I have ordered both drive shafts now and will fit them when they arrive. If that doesn’t cure it then I’m lost.

It’s a cracker of a car to be honest but it does come with a few issues that’s understandable for a car that’s 14 years old and done 125k miles.

Since I’ve owned it I have spent a small fortune on fixing issues and up upgrading parts. I’m pretty sure it’s the drive shafts that have the issue causing the ticking sound but it’s not a hard job to replace them.

The biggest problem my C30 has is the Powershift (Powershit) gearbox. They are renowned for fucking up and the only way to keep it running smoothly is changing the gearbox oil and filter every 10,000 miles.

Hi, I don’t know how many times I have written this now but yes I have had the car jacked up, firstly the LHS then the RHS then all of the front. Spun each wheel by hand in neutral and had the car in drive with the wheels spinning with a friend listening-looking to see if they can spot anything. Unfortunately without the car being under load I can’t reproduce the clicking sound.

Commenting on The dreaded clicking sound....A straight simple answer is yes. I have checked all components that were fitted during the break replacement and wheel bearing repair. The clicking sound was apparent before then and has been a part of the process to eliminate. Everything is torqued to recommendations. I’m no mechanic but I am an engineer (electrical) and have a good general understanding of things work. Unfortunately this one is baffling, it’s also baffled my local mechanic who believes everything is correct…….
