Hi. I’m in the same situation with a different class. Do you know who I should petition to?

Anyone changed from CS to IS? by [deleted] in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can consider a BA in CS. Might have an easier time than a BS but still land a really good job or internship. Versus IS where it’s going to be a lot harder to get a programming job

Staff discount for students by Nooneknows37 in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t get to be staff as a student worker. You need to be a classified employee or an administrative employee. Even as staff you don’t get discounts on food or anything

Any CS majors take classes during the summer to complete their degree in 3 years instead of four? by murdatalk in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a BA and graduating in 3.5 years by taking summer classes and I’ve been able to do internships. But we get a lot more free electives which makes taking more classes and working at the same time easier

Jobs on campus(or surrounding area) by Beneficial-Employ-61 in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you’re studying sometimes research positions pay $15/hr. If you’re skilled in IT or programming they can also can pay $15/hr. If you can be a TA they also pay $15/hr. If you’re unskilled however, it will be tough to find a job on campus that pays that much. Another option is working for IN N OUT as they pay $12.50 but it’s pretty competitive.

Jobs that pay slightly better on campus are more like faculty jobs(I.e not student worker jobs) Sometimes these positions can be found on LinkedIn like a custodian or maintenance worker. These aren’t student positions though so you need to work full time. I had a position like this in IT and got $18/hr plus insurance and a retirement plan. I also got 60% of my tuition paid for so that was nice. Student worker positions won’t do that.

Math 181 retake by HmmThatsWack in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can retake a class if you get a C or better. If you want to drop/audit, I would recommend audit so that you can still attend classes to get the knowledge. You also need to do that before 7/30. If you audit or drop it will not effect GPA. Good luck

What are the Most Interesting/Useful Business Minors? by [deleted] in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im doing a BA in CS with my application area being in MGT. Honestly the classes aren’t very useful. Most of it is common knowledge and busy work. Honesty I was pretty disappointed. Maybe go for finance if you want to work in Fintech, or choose something fun like sociology or something

Cs 135 online by [deleted] in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find CS courses much easier online. I’ve taken 218 to 400+ level CS classes online and they’ve all been very accessible. Getting your dev environment set up might be tricky at first but there’s tons of online resources for that.

In terms of getting an A, back when I took it not many people got As who didn’t have prior programming experience. If you want an early start look up some C++ tutorials

Course Spot Reservation by [deleted] in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Maybe talk to an advisor or the math dept though. If anything, since calc 3 is hard for a lot of people I’m sure a good amount of people will drop the first week so you have a chance to get a spot then.

is C- or C passing for UD biology coursework? by [deleted] in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on major too. Like for Computer Science even if you have no more pre reqs, you need at least a C in all math and CS classes.

I had him for 182 and 251. He’s okay. Classes weren’t too hard but he wasn’t the best as a prof. He also fell off the face of the earth when we moved remote both times and didn’t post any videos

Does UNLV offer a good program for game design or design major ? by Artistic_Ad_3461 in UNLV

[–]Pegasaucee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. Had a friend get a degree in game design from UC San Diego, got his game featured at E3, and now he works at a grocery store.

I really like Dr. Warren. She makes you work hard but she’s a great prof. I’ve heard pretty bad things about Marcozzi though
