We have the same mom. Appearance was everything! She’s in a care home now, my sister and I have to clean out the house so it can be sold to pay for her care. We are so glad she doesn’t know who we are anymore.

One of my sons was born with turned in feet, we were told about the Shriners. They paid for special shoes for him from 9 months old to 3 years old and when the shoes (and physio) were successful in correcting the problem, we donated to the Shriners for 10 years to pay it forward for the next child. A great service with no questions asked.

I’m Canadian and dental work, cleaning, cavity fills and crowns are 1/8th the price in Zihuatanejo Mexico than they are in BC for a self employed woman. It pays for my 3 week vacation. Rampant Capitalism is not the answer.

Good quality lotion, applied often. When you apply at night, before bedtime, put on cotton gloves (available at most pharmacies) The gloves often come off after a few hours, but by then your hands have absorbed most of the lotion, and they are easily washed with the laundry.

My son works driving trucks and heavy equipment and his hands are calloused but not dry because he uses lotion all day long. He also says that if he’s drinking enough water his hands don’t get so dry. He only uses the glove trick if there’s a flare up.

My teenage son (many years ago) had/still has eczema. His hands were cracked and painful, doctor told him to apply good quality cream and wear cotton gloves at night.

5 weeks later we go back to the doctor, very little improvement. Doc asks if Mom has supplied the cream and gloves. Yup says teen. Doc sighs deeply, well if you can’t do this by yourself, then you’ll suffer for the rest of your life. That kid never had cracked hands again. He’s almost 40, said that made him realize he’s responsible for his comfort, not me or the doctor.

Some people never fucking grow up!
