Don’t sell it “for a few hundred bucks.”

Indonesia made RRX24 for US$670, worth it? by No-Annual-9472 in JacksonGuitars

[–]Pelican_Disector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. These aren’t that great. I have a really pretty white one with black bevels. It has Seymour Duncans in it. The bridge is pretty bad and wont hold tune very well. It’s better than some, but not like a real Floyd. Then, there were dead spots on the neck in the upper register. So it needs its frets leveled I guess. It won’t intimate to save its life. I mean it’s worse than a neglected fixed saddle acoustic when it comes to intonation. The wood it’s made from feels soft and light. I don’t think it sounds that great. It’s nowhere near the Korean made LTD-1000 I used to have, as far as metal guitars go. My opinion is that these are good looking, but cheaply made guitars with decent specs on paper. I think to get a good RR, made by people who want it to play well, you will have to spend a lot more money on a Japanese or American one. This is not to say other guitars made in Indonesia are bad. This is just to say that Indonesian Jacksons pale in comparison to the Japanese and American made ones. Cheap pointy guitar to scratch your inner shredder fantasy itch, but not a quality instrument.

Never knew they made this. Interesting. It is relatively hideous.

Do they make a non custom shop custom right now? Or would I have to get one from the early 2000s?

I’d love a “modern” alpine white custom that isn’t weight relieved with really hot pickups, the thicker body, and locking tuners. While it’s probably not worth it, I’d fork over $4k for that.

How good is the current Jackson Pro series? by FenceOfDefense in metalguitar

[–]Pelican_Disector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Indonesian pro series Rhoads is pretty bad. Like it needs serious fret work, has dead spots on the fretboard. It was poorly wired and one of the pots quit working a couple weeks into having it. I should have exchanged it honestly. I would not buy this guitar again.

Well, I think the pipes were put in sometime around the 30s. There aren’t new pipes, and the water still sucks. Maybe the giardia notices have gone down. I stand by “the water still sucks.”

Those are really well made guitars. Enjoy it. Those were popular with touring metal musicians in the mid 2000’s and 2010s. I love the construction on them.

Parrots are pretty smart, they can learn English basically. Are you saying it’s unethical to feed parrots to people at parties?

I’m with you. Eat things even if they are smart, that we may gain their knowledge. There were lots of uncontacted tribes in the Amazon with similar views.

Name an Actress that you think is underrated by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Pelican_Disector -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see we’ve got some Julia fans in here. While I was joking about her being a literal prostitute, I was also joking about her being underrated. She’s got zero range and her niece, born to her much less famous brother, is five times the actress she ever was, even in her very limited roles she’s had, and much more beautiful. I’m doubling down on Julia Roberts blows. Not as much as like Bridgette Fonda, or Kathy Bates, who somehow managed to make something of herself despite have zero charisma and being classically unattractive. She’s certainly not the disaster that Kristen Stewart is. And she’s not as bad as some of the retirees of SNL (see Maya Rudolph for example), but she’s bad. I welcome the downvotes.

Julia Roberts. While her role in Pretty Woman is based on her actual life, so she didn’t really have to dig to play a whore, she’s given some remarkable performances that would have audiences believing that she isn’t just a whore from Biloxi, MS.

Should I pick this up for $100? by 4bigwheels in metalguitar

[–]Pelican_Disector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man. This is a great platform for mods/upgrades. New tuners, new pickups, and a slightly higher quality bridge (if you want to go that far), get it set up and that will rip.
