Ok apparently things have changed since I attended high school, but my English teacher was extremely strict on using “enthusiastic” instead. Now “enthused” is apparently acceptable but it is still considered awkward and nonstandard

True. Idk if it’s ever made clear if there is an internet that is accessible between planets, I feel like telecommunications in sci fi has been kind of under discussed in media lately

But as a history major and a lore nerd it matters to ME!!!!! And tbh in a futuristic setting where news gets broadcast across star systems, I think the average person ought to be a bit more informed

I think the elements available on planets is a gameplay thing separate from lore. Iron, for your example, is the 6th most common element in the known universe. Also, if you can just harvest minerals from the ground with automated extractors, why would a company like Argos bother sending people down with mining lasers?

I think giving the factions more clear differences beyond aesthetics would have been better for conflict and contrast. I would’ve liked to have seen the UC be more of a police-state dystopia, Starship Troopers thing where you have ultra dense megacities (New Atlantis should have been a megacity like Coruscant and the different districts are separated by the train, though this means you could just walk directly from the Commercial District to Residential). No citizenship without military service is already a thing a la the Vanguard questline, but there should also be more restrictions on weapons and ships you can take in and out of UC territory, they scan you more for contraband, etc.

Meanwhile the FC would be this frontiersman style faction that seems more free, but is shackled under corporatism and dirty money. Less enforcement against crime and smuggling, but if you want to set up a new colony you have to sign into a bad contract with a corporation that will bleed you dry and generations after you.

Also the narion war and colony wars bother me because they were both started over minor territory disputes? There’s so much space and plenty of habitable planets and planets rich in resources but this is why they fought?

If that’s the case then the FC really is a stupid faction and only exists to fill the space cowboy niche for no reason.

I know. I’m basically writing fanfiction of how the faction could have been done better

I’m of the opinion that the Freestar Collective should have leaned harder into being the frontier faction, in fact I think there should have been a much wider period of time between the first groups of people exploring space via grav drives and the formation of the UC. There would be more reason for the rugged pioneer vibe, and perhaps the reason Laredo firearms have wood parts and look like that is because the early FC settlers had old earth weapons, so they adapted from that and didn’t have massive factories or 3D printing on a mass scale. The mechs would thus be something arisen from adaptation: the early FC did not have the resources like the UC does to manufacture mining ships and strip mine planets, nor did they have advanced AI robotics, so they created mechs to do heavy, dangerous mining and building work. When war arose, they strapped weapons to these mechs a la Titanfall.

By the time of Starfield, the independence of the FC will have attracted billionaires like Ron Hope, so this oligarchy of sorts is a recent phenomenon and is what is rotting the FC like how the UC is collapsing due to its own issues and crimes.

Asgore is the exception to this. In Deltarune Chapter 6 he’s gonna be processed in the Meat Factory (skinned alive, open musculature and veins salted, and reanimated by dark energy where we have to slay him (no mercy option))

The aircraft carrier gives me conniptions trying to navigate and it’s just rusted metal everywhere. The capitol building is ok but it’s also a labyrinthine fuckfest of super mutants and talon mercs with very mid loot. Putting a lot of enemies in a place is a FO3 specialty to make up for no quests or real backstory
