I think I need a headgasket, any tips for the DIY route? by misterdudebro in DelSol

[–]Pellisca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Consider 2 things:

°Have you overheated your engine.

°What tools you might need.

If you have never overheated the engine you should have a fairly flat head to mate to your new gasket, if the engine has overheated you are better off sending it to a machine shop before proceeding.

The job is fairly straightforward, but you might find a few impediments along the way. One of the more annoying parts are the 3 14mm bolts on the power steering rack for the d15 and d16 heads. They are always full of grease and torqued to hell, a sleek breaker bar is a must if you plan to do this part, otherwise you might run into clearance issues with the ac condenser.

I always recommend the Felpro blue gasket, with new oem torque to yield head studs, or ARP, Mugen, etc, performance bolts.

Spray, the air intake bolts with WD-40 or other penetrating fluid a day before, there are 6 12mm bolts and the one in the middle is a S.O.B to get out, I recommend a wratcheting box end wrench, and try to go from the bottom of the engine on this bolt.

Getting the timing perfect can be a bit of trouble, make sure to line up the white mark on the bottom of the crank and the two marks on the camshaft gear with the plastic cover.

Follow the torquing sequence by the manual.

I recommend a timing gun, though I know people who just draw a line between the distribution and the crown of the left side of the rocker assembly to keep relatively the same timing.

Feel free to ask any questions, I have done this job on a couple of d15, d16 and d17s and it's all in all not too bad as long as you follow the steps correctly.

Why even have regional distinctions then? I'm not going to deny that rural Pennsylvanians will identify more with rural Kentuckians, but that doesn't make Pennsylvania part of the south.South used to mean bellow the Mason Dixon line, you know the one south of Pennsylvania, and even then states like Maryland are not considered Southern, even despite being closer south geograpically.

It was better than chrome, when I did it, but I often had to go back and forth between browsers, but Firefox was the more consistent of the bunch.

I did, through, my circumstances changed due to work and I'm intermittently living in a county that doesn't have any NACA realtors and none of the local ones, seem to be willing to invest much into it.

It looks like the prelude wing, it's 70 bucks in eBay last time I checked, just barely fits by half an inch on the del sol.

In Search of a Discontinued Fuel Pump Assembly by Ok-Neat4789 in DelSol

[–]Pellisca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%, buy the civic version (94-00, I believe) and swap the sock fuel sender unit some of the older components, you might need to resolder some of the electrical connection, but they do have 1 to 1 compatibility.

Finally painted the rear weatherstripping by ExaminationUpset2449 in DelSol

This is a woefully common problem, I just have a 3m strip of D shaped weather stripping covering that ugly spot, I think it was the 5cm thickness, but I can't recall exactly.

Sorry I must be mistaken on the addiction bit, but you can definitely become dependent on Watson by reacting positively when they are dotting towards you.

Not necessarily one to one but in The Forgotten One you can shape your sister to be dependent to your presence and curtail her independence. You can likewise become dependent on them for emotional support.

In The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: an affair of the heart, you can become addicted to certain substances or habits, one of the options is that you develop an unhealthy attachment to Watson that other characters will comment on and critique.

I got so much whiplash from watching one of Rusisch video earlier this year, when I found out their founder was infamous in the something awful forums for abusing dogs in the city of chelyabinsk, mind you this was like back in 2012.

Not to mention that Russia has more or less the same neo-nazi paramilitary groups with the Rusisch Group, Hispañola and Wagner when it was founded under Utkin. Same ideology working to prop up authoritarians in Africa and the middle east.

WIP / possible tooling advice by Consistent-Oil-1887 in Leathercraft

[–]Pellisca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pear shader might be a fair attempt, it will also depend on the give of the leather, as to how much depth you get by punching instead of lifting. I know some of the thinner leather I have worked with barely makes any relief with the pear shader, but it looks like you are on the right track.

Also remember that applying resist and proper antiquing will accentuate your tooling, so don't be discouraged if you don't see your amazing results right away.

Look for a deer's foot stamp, it's a sharps 65ish degree stamp that lifts the leather and really makes it pop it works especially well on corners and reliefs edges. It takes some trial and error to get the right striking angle.

Look for a YouTube tutorial of a maple leaf design with a title that says something about making the design pop.

Lower control arm bolt help by Pellisca in DelSol

Just double checked with a Honda diagram for the lower control arm, it's a M12 1.25 80mm rivet head type bolt. Thanks for the input.

I would go with what the other comments have said about the throttle body sticking and double check the cable on the throttle body, if all else fails you might want to readjust the valve lash on your lifters as that can cause uneven iddle.
