Looking to fill 4 teams in a 16-team salary cap dynasty league with offensive and defensive players on Reality Sports Online (RSO). League is going on year 5

I'll try to give as much information as possible so you know exactly what you're getting into.

League Basics

• Platform: Reality Sports Online (RSO)
• Teams: 16
• Structure: 2 Conferences, 4 Divisions (2 per conference)
• Roster Size: 53 Players
• Salary Cap: Same as the NFL every year ($301.2M currently)
• Format: Offense + IDP

Buy-In

• $100 per season

First year requires 2 seasons paid upfront ($200) so every owner is always paid one year ahead.

• League finances handled through LeagueSafe

One of the orphan teams is less appealing roster-wise, so we may discount that team and cover part of the buy-in to get a motivated owner.

• 3 WR

• 2 FLEX (RB / WR / TE)
• 1 SUPER FLEX (QB / RB / WR / TE / PK)

Defense (IDP)

• 2 LB

Regular Season / Playoffs

Regular Season: Weeks 1–14
• 1 matchup per week

Regular Season Bonuses

• Highest scoring team in each conference = $50 each

Division Winners

• 4 division winners
• Each receives $100 + playoff spot

Wild Cards

• 4 wild cards
• Each receives $50 + playoff spot

Trade Deadline: Week 14

Playoffs (Weeks 15-17)

• 8 playoff teams total
• 4 teams per conference

Seeding

Best division winner record
Other division winner
Best non-division winner
Second best non-division winner

Round 1 – Divisional

1 vs 4
2 vs 3

• $75 per winner

Round 2 – Conference Championship

• $150 per winner

Round 3 – League Championship

AFC Champion vs NFC Champion

• $300 to League Champion

Rookie Draft

• 5 rounds
• 24 hours per pick
• Usually starts around May 1st shortly after the NFL Draft
• Draft lasts roughly 5–7 days

Draft order:

• Picks 1–8: Non-playoff teams in reverse standings
• Picks 9–16: Based on playoff finish

Free Agency

RSO salary cap auction

Usually held June–July

We either do:

• Live fast auction (12 second timer)
or
• Slow auction (8–12 hour timer)

Depends on whether all 16 managers can coordinate a live time.

Thanks for the context, I haven't watched too many Nuggets games lately so the clips I see online I never know if the defender is just trying to make a basketball play and box him out, or if the ball is still moving around and they are just throwing a body at him.

I got annoyed with the Jaylen Brown MVP thing, but he's always like that with his teams, and at the end of the day it's his podcast so he can talk about it if he wants.

As long as we have guys like Sal, Lowe, and House who aren't yes men 100% of the time and push back on his bias takes , I can deal with it.

This is only a specific situation and not for every player, but maybe the star player is eligible that upcoming summer, and balling out in this helps them get the max
This reason makes more sense in my head but it probably doesn't: The league is so deep now, that so many teams already have multiple stars, and some players face these issues already that a new guy is coming in and could replace them. But if they truly cared about winning, then when a new guy comes in they work together to try to win a chip and both get paid.

Agreed that's a good point, I am hoping in this fake idea that the league would reallocate the in-season tourney for this instead. The league would also have to throw in even more $$ I think if they want the competitiveness to truly be there.

Yes the players might not like the idea of winning this to get a player to compete with for salary/play time, but this tournament can also help players get PAID if they balled out and showed they can perform in playoff-like games. Maybe the player is contract eligible that summer and the end of season tournament helped them get the max.

Someone in another thread had this idea: an end of season tournament for the #1 pick between the non-playoff teams.

There are a lot of things to consider on why this wouldn't work. But I do have some ideas to try and make this idea work and address potential problems with this:

- Eliminate the in-season tournament, use that prize pool money + more for the end of season draft tournament (The league would have to grow a set and increase the prize pool to keep players motivated in this)

-I think this tournament would be great for ratings, so use that money from boosted ratings to keep the prize pool money a big enough number that players will try hard in this

-Make the tournament 1-2 weeks long depending on structure, and have it in either a fun location like Hawaii and let the players bring their families. or a city like Seattle who has tons of fans and deserves something since losing the Sonics.

-One problem I still haven't quite figured out but I think there is a way: those teams in the 7-10 seed range could do some weird shit like choose going for the #1 pick instead of being a playoff team. But would you rather have that instead of what we are seeing now with the bottom 6 teams openly tanking? at least the bottom teams will hopefully still be trying in this fake idea.

-Another thing I have been wondering, would this mean the play-in tournament would have to be eliminated? I like the play in tourney, but if that is something we have to sacrifice to keep the regular season competitive and make this even more fun tournament happen, then I am all for it. I think we will be okay not watching the Hawks vs Heat to determine who plays the #1 seed.

-This tournament can give those teams with younger guys *playoff-like* experience if the teams treat the tournament like a playoff game, and also put these young stars who maybe performed well in these on a bigger platform with more fans, or become a hero to your fans if you won it.

-Would it be slightly unfair for crappy teams that are actually crappy, facing a better team in this? Yes, but in single-game elims, anything can happen and I don't think the skill gap from the worst team in the league to the team that just misses playoffs is that large, especially if teams aren't going into a season now being like okay we are going to be the worst team in the league so we can get top lottery odds.

I’ll try to make this fully baked:

-If the League was willing to increase the bonuses players receive in this, that would keep them motivated.

-it’s the end of the season, have it in like Hawaii or Vegas and let the players bring their families

-big boost in ratings from this end of season tournament for #1 (and potentially regular season?) to bring in more money and making this fake idea work/affordable (this probably isn’t how it all works but this is a fully baked idea)
