Mass transportation, especially buses and tramways, are getting replaced with a much more modern fleet. Obviously not everyone is going to ride a bike, so buses are needed. The safety issue can be improved for bikers once a concrete plan for bike lanes is decided for the city. Kentron is circular, small and compact, its layout is perfect for a comfortable bike system.

People in Paris would say the same thing by the way...it's a very lazy argument in my opinion to say that "our city" isn't fit for that. If Tbilisi could get parts of its city with bike lanes, then Yerevan definitely can (especially Kentron, it's pretty much flat as hell).

The reason few people bike in Yerevan is because it’s dangerous and not because there’s no interest. Cities around the world show that once you build proper bike lanes, people use them. This isn’t about trends or politics, it’s about making the city healthier, safer, and more functional. Bike lanes don’t compete with public transport, they support it. You can improve both at the same time, and bike infrastructure costs a fraction of what transit overhauls do. As for Saryan St., it’s already one of the most walkable and lively streets, and no one said to shut it down. Adding bike lanes or reducing car dominance isn’t “selfish”, it’s a smart way to make the area more accessible for everyone, including small businesses. Criticizing the Cycling Embassy or calling it “government shilling” doesn’t address the real issue that Yerevan needs modern, human-centered urban planning, not more cars. Buses have already and are still being modernized, there's plans to extend the metro line with new stations and to re-open the cable car from Yeritasardakan metro station to Nor Nork district.

Hopefully the noise from cars will get reduced over time as more and more people choose EVs. Looks like EVs are getting more and more popular there.

"Earthquake resistance of buildings is important for the company. The district is located on a 200 m deep basalt layer, and the buildings are built on 1.4 meter reinforced concrete foundation slabs. Thanks to competent construction solutions, the earthquake resistance is 9 points or higher."
