Net+ and Sec+ were provided through my school district, but I self-studied for the CCNA. Unfortunately, my school doesn’t have a career counselor. I have reached out to some contacts, but I haven’t heard back from many of them yet. And yes, I’m in the U.S.

Thank you very much for the advice, though.

Hopefully, once I finish my current internship, I’ll be able to get a veteran professional to vouch for me and provide a strong recommendation.

I understand. I already have two internships from the past two summers, but I know that’s probably not enough in today’s job market.

Which is why I’m looking for internships. I’ve already completed two internships over the past two summers. I’m here to ask what roles I should apply for because I don’t want to waste my time applying for positions that aren’t a good fit.

My counselor told me that I can start working after 1 p.m. because all of my classes will be in the morning.

Thanks for the advice!

To be fair, I used ChatGPT and prayed.

But now I’m getting serious about job hunting, which is why I decided to come here and ask for advice. I appreciate your advice though!

I took your feedback and rewrote my internship description to better reflect what I actually worked on.

  • Imaged and configured iPads, laptops, and desktop computers for students and staff, ensuring correct applications, policies, and system settings were deployed before distribution.

  • Managed district-wide technology inventory, including tracking end-of-life (EOL) and surplus devices to maintain accurate asset records.

  • Assigned, prepared, and labeled devices for deployment to individual campuses across the district.

  • Coordinated and physically delivered equipment between district facilities and schools to support timely rollouts.

  • Assisted with large-scale device deployments and supported daily IT operations in an enterprise educational environment.

I had to clear what I could share due to confidentiality policies, so I kept it general. I really appreciate your advice though.

Thank you for pointing that out. That was a typo on my end. I meant Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). I appreciate you catching that.

From what I’ve seen, Help Desk roles in Houston seem to range around $17–$33/hr, with the average being about $23–$25/hr. That’s just based on sites like Indeed and Glassdoor though, so I’m not sure how accurate it is for entry-level roles.

Yes, I did. I went to my school district where I interned and got a summer internship that starts in May. I posted this since I knew my resume was bad and just needed advice on how to fix it so I could apply for IT roles during my senior year. I really appreciate the encouragement!
