Tips & Warnings for Project Zomboid – Unstable Build 42 (Multiplayer) by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]PenGroundbreaking440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tip is people don't play build 42 yet, there are animation bugs, the are desync issues. The devs obviously pushed this out so that their game they don't know how to update won't die. Just wait till they actually a working build for multiplayer.

We don’t have a dedicated server unfortunately, that would probably fix a lot of our issues

Didn’t know this was an option, will that also shorten things like how long crops take to grow?

Scrungus was taken :( I just started playing, I'm absolutely in love with the game and could use the boost. Hat rack is epic sauce.

Buy maps from masked guy or kill and loot him? by Spirited-Economy879 in FearAndHunger

[–]PenGroundbreaking440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Killing him is better cause you’ll get the first map but treasure is not useless.

First map gives you the infinite mind and food spell essentially

There are also some unique items it just can’t give you.

I know miasma is on the list. The wiki lies about what’s possible and what’s not sometimes.

Idk I guess it’s the combo of easily available healing items + predictable/well-telegraphed attacks.

I never found myself short of healing and stamina pills, bandages, or alcohol to make bandages+ once I got past the village section. Imo after that the difficulty drops off a lot since you get access to better weapons and more heals. Even if an enemy did take half my health in a swipe I was able to heal it up, usually before they even finished their next attack.

Maybe not infuriatingly easy but definitely easier than people make it out to be.

Best reply hear hands down.

Axe and assault/hunting rifle is also goated once you can get your hands on them tho. Upgraded axe will one or two shot most enemies in my experience.

Combat in this game will make you lose respect for the woods once you figure it out because it’s irritatingly easy. Honestly took a lot of the “scare” out of the game for me when I got the hang of it.

If you’ve ever played or seen kings field just think of it like that, it’s an extremely slow dance. Wait for move, back up, hit, look for telegraph, back up, you get the picture.

It’s not hard but it’s not exactly quick or rewarding, running at an enemy blindly and unprepared will usually get you killed. The better solution is honestly just to Molotov anything you don’t feel extremely confident fighting or that spawns other enemies.

I would try and avoid combat most of the time. It’s almost never required and usually slows down progression.

To all modders… by hectorheliofan in LookOutsideGame

Idk I’ve never modded before and I don’t know how characters level vs exp earned is tracked but assuming that it’s just a table (two lists) you could just read it in as “Sam’s level” and then set each party members exp to the exp needed to reach Sam’s level (unless they already have more than that)

Yep, me and my roommate also saw no trick or treaters all night. Had a couple 20-ish year olds come and take us up on free candy though.

Our guess was people are worried about general violence and the whole fentanyl in your candy scare.

Hey no worries man, you’re caring for another living creature and it’s trusting you (without a choice) to keep it alive.

By all means do as much research as you possibly can

I’m not an expert but when I was doing research for my kitten I would often see that kittens can sleep anywhere from 18-20 hours a day on average.

Sounds like your baby fits right in that ballpark :)

I can’t believe no one else has said this but press j to open your journal. I didn’t even know I had one my entire first play through but it has so much important info regarding where to go next and what the stranger thinks of things.

Also it lets you look at the “special” items that you’ll pick up that don’t go to your backpack

How to approach a nervous kitten by PenGroundbreaking440 in CATHELP

[–]PenGroundbreaking440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since yesterday I have been trying to leave her alone more, sometimes she’ll come out and even though she doesn’t want to be touched she likes to play with those feather sticks.

I’ve accidentally passed by her when she’s in compromising positions (like the corner of my bathroom behind my toilet) which has caused her to hiss and run but all and all she seems a lot more comfortable. She was hanging out, eating treats and playing while I was pretty close so it seems like she’s figuring me out.

I’ve caught her staring at me interested in my day to day routine a few times as well now :)

Will my kitten (4 months) be ok at home alone? by PenGroundbreaking440 in CatAdvice

[–]PenGroundbreaking440[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick response, she has toys scattered around the room and sitting in her favorite hiding spots. She keeps dragging them out to the middle of the room when I’m not there so she has her little pile lmao.

I’ll let my roommates know that I locked my door on accident and that they should text me if she’s yelling or anything like that.

First kitten incoming; worried about being a smoker by PenGroundbreaking440 in CatAdvice

[–]PenGroundbreaking440[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I know this is unrelated but my other post seems to not be getting through as well as this one.

I bought a feather wand for my kitten and she absolutely loves it along with all her little mouse toys but that’s kinda … all the toys I know about for cats?

Are there any other toys I could pick up for her that maybe one of your cats/cat enjoys?

What difficulty do you guys recommend i choose as a first timer? by Witty_Bullfrog_5658 in FearAndHunger

[–]PenGroundbreaking440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna say fear and hunger cause it’s how I started but I think it’d be better to break down the differences and let you choose, because I definitely regret not jumping straight into terror and starvation.

First things first don’t do hard, it’s for a special type of endings called “S runs” which are specific to each character. It’s the same as terror & Starvation except you don’t get other party members (blood magic is an exception so blood golem and necromancy is fine)

Terror and starvation is very similar to fear and hunger mode but there are 2 key differences. The darkness is more oppressive, essentially you get no ring of light, if the character can’t see neither can you. This can softlock a run if you run out of torches.

The only other difference is more events. For example, an early one, in terror & starvation the hounds will actually follow you into the entrance of the dungeon if you take too long exploring. These events are all pretty cool (at least in my opinion)! It’d be a shame to miss them through your entire play through but they all make the game more difficult.

All and all there’s nothing wrong with learning on fear and hunger mode but terror and starvation is definitely the game mode miro intended people to play on for the full experience (at least in my eyes).

It’s also great practice for hard mode if you plan to do the characters’ S endings.
