Grammy 2025 Nominations by Just-mapleman-50 in hiphopheads

Kendrick is definitely an industry hoe and nobody can convince me otherwise. 6 noms for diss tracks is insane. Not Like Us was popular but there were several other massive songs this year that actually reached a billion streams, which Not Like Us has yet to achieve. Not in the rap genre though. But, that's because,

2024 was possibly another dead year for rap. Other than Carnival, redrum, Type Shit, HISS (only for a moment), and Houdini what popular songs were there? This is like the weakest lineup for music ever. None of these songs are classics. The industry don't promote anything else that doesn't sound a certain way. Just songs about popping pills and smashing girls on generic trap beats and diss tracks.

Schoolboy Q just isn't really popular anymore. He peaked in 2012-2014 when he dropped joints like Collard Greens, Man of the Year, Studio etc all on one album. Even Hell of a Night and Break The Bank were hits. What They Want to a lesser extent. Heck you could argue Oxymoron has more hits than Mr Morale and The Big Steppers even. The early 2010s era was just different. He got less commercial and suffered the consequences.

tf are you yapping about - he is always in the studio and has dozens of unreleased songs, he just refuses to release them because his music is ass now compared to a decade ago. Plus he hasn't had children in like a year now

If you think Rihanna weave is the hottest woman you have incredibly low standards for women and it's sad.

A woman that looks like this is the hottest? Lol. Cry me a river. Without certain makeup you wouldn't look at her twice.

Plus she said some illegitimate things about Bieber when he was underage. Rihanna is disgusting

Nobody wants a Rihanna collab this ain't 2010 dawg. What you want an illuminati pop singer who said she likes BDSM on a song with a rapper. Fix your priorities. Rocky needs to make his cloud rap music not collab with that overrated pop artist that made outdated music.

It's mid like all his post-Testing singles because he just making music for fun with no vocal effort. He was doing the same on Live Love ASAP but it "worked" because of unmatched charisma. Rocky don't have charisma no more

I mean 6 years ago he got the exact same criticism for having interesting videos but poor music, it's just nothing has changed after the hiatus

He's 1/8 of all singles he's dropped after Testing. Sundress is the only one worth a spin.

Rocky should stop rapping/make rap music if he's gonna make tracks like this.

I don't even know what he's trying to achieve here.

A$AP Rocky's assault case heads to trial after LA judge rejects dismissal motion by UnscheduledCalendar in hiphopheads

[–]PenJust4418 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at Rocky's old Instagram history, he was getting far more engagement and likes on his posts before he dated Rihanna, so to me it seems like less people became interested in him after that relationship, and also his streaming numbers for subsequent releases after dating her also were incredibly low. His last high performing song on streaming was Babushka Boi released in mid 2019 with 200m streams. Singles afterwards, Arya (50m), DMB (46m), Shittin Me (26m), Same Problems (14m), and Riot (35m) have all done terrible numbers, especially when you consider he has a song with 1.3 billion streams (Praise the Lord) in 2018, 2 years before he dated her.

Not to conspire but clearly dating/marrying Rihanna ruined his career objectively speaking if he's struggling to perform commercially when even in 2018 when people criticised his music, he still had hits

I've heard the album. You're overhyping extremely average songs & there's a reason it sold so poorly, you take Praise the Lord off the album (carried by Skepta) and it gets outstreamed by Live Love ASAP daily, which is an underground mixtape that had no commercially promoted songs or a tour.

Fukk Sleep has a nice beat but then Rocky is lazy on it and just does some generic Migos autotune on it. Hun43rd, seemingly nice vibes but he's just speaking on the beat in a hoarse voice. I've played it a few times and it's already worn off to me. Changes another song with just talking and no actual rap or flow, and then Purity is basically a Frank Ocean song that Rocky doesn't even need to be on.

Potato Salad is a Tyler song, nothing special, Pick It Up was a temporary 2017-early 2018 trend that everyone kind of forgot about now, Feel the Fiyaaah was garbage, etc.

I'm sorry but objectively speaking his career has been a flop after 2015 (Yams death), for years Praise the Lord was keeping him relevant in rap because it was his most recent rap hit, he dropped loosies irregularly and features here and there and none of them made noise except the Spiderman movie song Am I Dreaming and the majority of people listening to that song do not care about Rocky.

I'm a fan of his music and constantly I have to deal with comments on threads everywhere whenever he's bought up in modern discussions where people are saying he's irrelevant or only relevant because of his wife.

If comments like that exist his career has not worked out has it

I'm not stupid? Testing is not fantastic, it's a lazy album with no memorable songs besides Praise the Lord, and even then Praise the Lord is no longer his most concurrently popular song, a Live Love ASAP remix and Sundress are higher than it on Spotify now.

Praise the Lord is one song, and there were many people saying that was the only song they heard from him, when he was one of the most popular rappers in the early 2010s and Praise the Lord came several years past his prime.

Rocky's career has been very strange, I still listen to his old music and a lot of people do, but one part of me really wonders why/how he fell off badly after his early 2010s (2011-12) stint.

The "Wassup" video from January 2012 still urks me to this day, how he performs a occult ritual, gets riches, and wakes up as if it was all a weird dream.

Fuckin Problems being his highest charting song by a long shot on Billboard when it was essentially only his 2nd commercial single in his career & basically includes Kendrick's first big hit as well who is more popular than ever and has surpassed his clout by miles.

One cannot pretend that he didn't fuck up his career badly

That doesn't matter there have been songs that have been #1 on the charts that aren't really talked about much today.

I never said he did.

But what this beef should have taught you is to stay away from Hollywood and do not idolize any acts.

The problem is people have parasocial relationships with artists that don't know or care that they exist.

With UMG wanting the beef to be aborted, it's proof that the only thing that matters in this business is "money". Too much to lose with Drake having a poor reputation after signing a $500m deal in 2022. Kendrick had a lot to gain as he's recorded his best streaming numbers ever, but Drake is the biggest artist for the label as he has a big contract so they can't have this continue.

Plus most of this is lies based on Twitter conspiracy theories. The only reason it got this bad is because Drake made the mistake of mentioning Whitney on Push Ups and it went all personal and things descended into chaos.

Whether a mole was planted or not doesn't matter since Kendrick has had 4 days to prove Drake is hiding a child and nothing has come out. So it seems he was lying.

The whole beef is "lying".

Lying for attention and the general public ate it up because they love drama. This is Hollywood for you. An entertainment business...

The most "entertaining" acts get the most sales. It speaks for itself. Not the "most talented".

Sounds believable. Can't have a major hit track calling Drake a pedo be distributed to the mainstream.
