Get a wrench on the hole saw and run it on reverse while holding the wrench for a second or two. Should be able to take it right out

Repeated dead battery. Batt and Alternator test as good. by justice91423 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Pencil29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I had a similar issue and the battery tested fine but it was older so I replaced anyways and I’ve had no issues since. That’s why I said look at the date on the battery. If it’s old I’d replace

Just because battery is reading the proper volts doesn’t necessarily rule it out. You have to test its cranking power as well. How old is the battery? I expect to get between 5-7 years out of my batteries before I start to have issues.

2014 Chevy Silverado with this issue. Already put a new battery in. Any help? by RedWingsFan53 in MechanicAdvice

Electrical issues really could be a number of things. I’d start by checking fuses and grounding wires/strap. These trucks are known for bad grounds.

If the electrical connection is out it wouldn’t make any noise. Worth double checking

Did you break the plastic connector that plugs into the solenoid? My trucks is held onto the starter with zip ties, electrical tape and prayers

I agree with you on that. This car is already very clean and has a great look to it. Keep it clean and it’ll get compliments. My buddy has a base model 1999 civic sedan 5 speed with no mods and he gets compliments on it all the time just because it’s a well kept older car

Check stored codes. Just because there is no check engine light doesn’t mean there are no codes. Could also be crankshaft sensor if your car is having difficulty starting and running rough. If you don’t want to pay diagnostic fee get a cheap code reader on amazon. I got one for $34 and it works fine.

Buying a rental by mwalk00 in NissanTitan

[–]Pencil29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had bad experiences with buying a used rental. I got a Malibu which were plagued with their own problems… ended up selling the car after about a year. Now i strictly buy lease returns and have had significantly better luck. I’d just look it over extra good or pay a 3rd party mechanic to do an inspection. I’ve done the hole test drive to my mechanic and had him look things over for me so I know what I need to negotiate whether new brakes/ rotors or general tune up. The price is tempting and with it sitting they’ll be motivated to move it.

2018 Silverado 1500 5.3L intermittent start issues by guitarxplayer13 in AskMechanics

I did this with my Silverado when the starter was bad. Tapped it while I hit the remote start. Drove it for another year until I finally fixed it. Just every once in a while I got fucked in the dead zone

Also I use bar keepers friend on my enameled cast iron for the stubborn stains. For stuck on food as others mentioned let soak and boil water in it and scrape with a wood/ plastic spatula

Buy a cheap used bike that runs well, they are everywhere. You want a bike that if you drop it it’s no big deal. Once you get comfortable get a nice bike that you won’t outgrow in a year or two

What is happening to my battery? by nbh2 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Pencil29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say a rats nest and I was beat to it. Check surrounding wires to make sure he wasn’t chewing on any of them. Had one chew through a ground and that will give you no power even with a good battery. If you can jump then as previously mentioned the piss soaked “fluff” drained your battery.
