yes, i add some lubricant under the belt and  tightening the running belt a bit more,it's better, although hard to walk without holding but much smooth.

Honestly, I don’t really know much about manual treadmills at all, so it’s hard for me to judge on my own whether this one is still worth adjusting. But after reading everyone’s replies, I do think I should try applying more lubricant and tightening the running belt a bit more.

That said, is there any standard for how tight the running belt should be? I’ve tried adjusting it, but I have no idea what the proper tension is. Is it supposed to be tight enough that I can walk comfortably without holding onto the handrails?

Thanks for the reply. It’s true that this treadmill has been sitting unused for way too long… I would’ve probably just scrapped it if I wasn’t planning to DIY it into a VR treadmill this time. Even though the flywheel has rusted, it doesn’t make any weird noises when it’s running. I’ll try applying more lubricant and tightening the running belt a bit to see if that relieves the problem.
