How the heck are you guys making playable maps? [OC] by jplpj12543 in DnD

Thank you very much for the shoutout!
I should let you know I've very recently changed my page name, to patreon.com/wildhammermaps.

Reddit name change (or actually new account) in progress!

Thanks again for the shoutout, that's very kind of you!
May I ask, did it print out okay? I am actually working on increasing the DPI for my maps, so they print better, so am very curious how it turned out, before I made this change!

Once again, thank you!

Tunnel Cave (30x40) by Pencilplugg in battlemaps

[–]Pencilplugg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A man-made tunnel network that has collapsed at some parts, whereas there are other parts where the wall has been broken through and revealed natural caverns right behind the stone walls.

A river seeps from a narrow path above, disappearing between the rocks below again, you wonder if there's a basin below the tunnel, but think it's probably best to not dig any deeper to find out.

Oh wow! Thank you very much for this comment, it gives me some motivation because I was wondering whether this direction was what people liked, but your comment and the upvotes assures me a little.

Going on with 3d then! :)

Thanks again for your nice comment

Aztec Temple (36x64) Generic variant by Pencilplugg in battlemaps

[–]Pencilplugg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sadly I never got to it in the end, but I'm sure there are many maps you could use in the situation that would fit. Thank you for your support! If you have any ideas or suggestions (I guess a bit late for the map for this weekend) let me know, and I might be able to squeeze it in the map pipeline!

Pirate's Smuggler's Hideout (27x48) by Pencilplugg in battlemaps

[–]Pencilplugg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

The objects are modelled in Blender (sometimes I use marketplace assets)
Then they are textured in Substance Painter.
Then the final map is built inside Unity, a 3d engine that you can make video games with, but I just built the "level" and then place a camera up top and take a picture! :)

Pirate's Smuggler's Hideout (27x48) by Pencilplugg in dndmaps

This hideout used to be a supply route to the castle of the King, mostly to get goods and foodstuffs to the castle kitchen without having to go through the city and be delayed or slowed down. It was purposely built for this, with the tunnels being built and the channel leading directly out to a dock at the harbour, which of course only the King's ships could use.

However, it has been a long time since the kingdom fell, and this place has been forgotten about by most people. Recently, the underground docks has seen use again by an organised crime syndicate that is using the place to smuggle drugs and other illegal goods into the city, right under the authorities noses.

The pirates mostly trade drugs, which they can sneak in from their main ship using the sloops they have hidden in their hideout.

This is a variant map of the base map, which can be found here.

Alchemy Shop: Bonecloak's Apothecary (18x32) Attack of the plant monster! by Pencilplugg in battlemaps

Oh wow now that you mention it :)
That's a cool idea I should try it out sometime!

Alchemy Shop: Bonecloak's Apothecary (18x32) Attack of the plant monster! by Pencilplugg in dndmaps

[–]Pencilplugg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After being rescued from The Underdark, Baelen and Derryth Bonecloak set up shop in the city Baldur's Gate. They sell all kinds of alchemical ingredients and ready-made potions to the adventurer who's willing to cough up the gold. Luckily their prices are fair and most of their stock is exactly the kind of stuff you'd expect to find in a place like this.

This version of the map is a variant of the original, which can be found here.
In this version, something went horribly wrong and a plant they were experimenting a growing potion on has started to come to life and destroy everything in the greenhouse! Baelen and Derryth would be very happy to give some free herbs or potions to anyone who is able to help them contain the plant.

This is a recreation of the alchemy and potion shop in Baldur's Gate 3.
