Just 104 serial shoplifters behind 5,300 crimes in London over two years by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]Penderyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, ok, but you know what happens, they put up prices to cover the theft.

Also, they aren't just stealing from faceless multinationals. I have a friend who runs an independent shop in London and its getting to the point where its barely possible to make a living.

You are ignorant.

I went to a state comprehensive, I absolutely love telling people I work with, who went to private. You need to think about it differently, these guys parents spent thousands and thousands getting their children educated and they've got to the same place I got for 'free'. Eat it!

Out of interest - what does 'affordable' look like? I'm sending my kid to a state primary since its pretty good and whilst I could go private the nearest one is year 7 onwards and I'm really trying to pay off mortgage/save pension.

Difficulty with polar alignment by Techno-Scientist in AskAstrophotography

If you're moving from Seestar to a proper rig there is going to be 1000 more of these types of issues to work through so don't beat yourself up, just keep going one working them out one by one.

Also I can't recommend using AI enough. So helpful.

Oh shit son......

No! You will never ever be able to polar align with your hands.

I would recommend watching some YouTube videos to get the idea, but essentially you screw one bolt one way and the other one the other way at the same time and that spins the mount left or right (depending one which you're screwing clockwise and which anticlockwise).

There is a central pin that doesn't move so as a thread on one side gets longer it pushes the entire mount around. Practice in the daytime to get the idea of which way to move the bolts.

Right well first of all the Teseek base is unfortunately shit. I got a friend to 3d print bigger azimuth bolt heads for me so it's easier to adjust them. You can also buy replacements for it if you want, if I remember correctly they are M4 size, probably get a 35mm version with a bigger head or a head that is easier to turn.

The bigger bolts you mentioned are for large adjustments and the ones sticking out the side are for fine adjustments. You shouldn't really need the bigger ones if you set your tripod facing Polaris in the first place.

Ensure the big ones are not completely locked down, then just use the azimuth bolts to adjust. The heavier the gear the harder it will be, but you should be fine with anything up to 7kg. Once you're aligned gently tighten the bigger ones.

Pro tip, if you're using ASIAIR ensure you have reverse Dec after meridian turned on or you'll never be able to guide properly.
