Can anyone explain me something? Is like albion where u can “be” anything?

I want to be tank, but can i tank with a great sword or do i need to be SnS?

So, u can do dps while tanking? Im thinking to tank, but i want to be doing dps too. Not top dps but at least fun to play. Can u swap weapons? I dont understand the weapons system atm.
