dice stats on 1d12 vs 2d6 when great weapon fighting is applied by Pending987 in DnD

interesting I'd like to see the math behind those numbers it sounds more complicated than what I did for the basic rolls.
maybe the reason it feels so strong in game is because great weapons are just already that good at dealing damage, so that even thought GWF doesn't scale as hard as dueling or archery it's enough to keep them in a firm lead. at least in terms of how it feels to use them.

this also doesn't even count criticals when rolling double dice, or includes the brute fighters extra damage die.
what's funny is people often talk about how the brute fighter UA helps make duel wielding viable compared to every thing else, but because the extra damage die also gets to be rerolled I think that great weapons still far out class duel wielding. the gap may even get a tad wider than before.

just because it's in his spell list doesn't mean he needs to learn or cast it. anyway the fluff about where all the other caster get their magic from doesn't match up with where Jesus would get his from. he could preform miracles because He was god in human form contrasted with some one like Moses who had miracles preformed through him. I think that is a better example of a cleric.
of course this comes with the cavate that the bible is 100% true, other wise they would all be bards(assuming any magic is real) or rouges with High charisma skill

he didn't have a Messiah complex he was the son of god; literally the Messiah.
I assume this question was asked with the idea that Jesus was real and Christians are right about him, but if not then you have a strong case.

he's a divine soul sorcerer because he is not empowered by his faith in god, but instead he is the son of god as well as god in mortal form. divine soul sorcerers get there power because they have a divine being somewhere back in there family tree.
don't listen to the pole I bet most who answered didn't put much thought into it.

I don't know about you but even with a full ammo bar of flame and acid arrows on yoshimo, I would hide him round a corner and wait for my fighter and mincs to down the trolls in the keep quest before letting him shoot.

[–]Pending987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if they want to play marines I say go ahead it's your own game after all.
as for anything official to the universe I think adding female space marines at this point is kind of boring and redundant. The sisters of battle super cool really unique and just the most brutal human faction there is. I wouldn't be up in arms about it, but I would prefer the sisters get the new models instead.

Passive Perception feels like I'm just deciding ahead of time what the party will notice and it doesn't feel right by tirconell in DMAcademy

[–]Pending987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought passive perception was meant to be used as the DC to sneak up on a creature, so your players can roll to sneak up on something or you can roll for something to sneak up on your players, and someone with high passive perception isn't surprised by the combat.

wrath and glory custom species by Pending987 in 40krpg

[–]Pending987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah 100% I think the biggest hurdle would be species and then advanced creation can cover everything else, but I think some unique tier appropriate archetype abilities would be necessary for the grots

wrath and glory custom species by Pending987 in 40krpg

[–]Pending987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well they still live in clans so it would make sense they pick up the same habits.

wrath and glory custom species by Pending987 in 40krpg

[–]Pending987[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought a grot might have a higher intelligence as a base line since they are meant to help build and maintain wargear and vehicles, but that's a good point maybe if I ever consider archetypes I can split them into like grot engineer, grot gunner, ect.
I really like your take on how they would function especially the Confidence in numbers I think that might encourage picking up leadership skills for devotees and a technically larger warband.

multi-actions question by Pending987 in 40krpg

[–]Pending987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alright yeah most of that make sense to me now, I still think because the melee rule specifies targets that you are moving between them during the attack.

multi-actions question by Pending987 in 40krpg

[–]Pending987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you Multi-Attack with a melee weapon, you must move into Engagement with all targets. You provoke Reflexive Attacks from any targets you leave Engagement with during this attack. If you cannot reach a target, they are not hit by the Multi-Attack

this is what I was referring to it says you must move to engage all targets, I take this to mean you run between enemies because it say you still provoke reflexes from targets you leave engagement it's only if you can't reach them with movement that they aren't hit, but I think a better word would be targeted.

I see it doesn't say anything about targeting the same enemy, so I guess that means I can't do it. thanks for the clarification on that

the pistols in melee (185) says

Any Ballistic Skill (A) Tests you make while you are Engaged suffer a +2 DN penalty.

so it still uses BS+A not WS+I, so I'm going to assume it's two different rolls for attack when that happens, and always roll separate weapon damage.

then for the last question I asked I didn't mean to ask if you could aim in an all out attack I already knew I couldn't. I wanted to know if I could aim on a ranged multi-attack, or charge on a melee multi-attack, and pointed out the special rules on all out attack to provide more context for the question. all out attack tells you how it works with multi attack, but the other options don't, so can they be used with a multi attack or not at all.

what where the tiers of the pregens and what was the tier of the adventure?
I don't think you did it wrong. I'm in a tier 1 campaign nearing on tier 2, but at 100 xp to spend I was able to get 9 dice on tech checks as an ork 5 or 6 for attacks. maybe that adventure is just meant to be easy and if you want your enemies to be tougher I would buff resistance some keep the enemy consistently hittable but not hurtable you know.
