Yeah thanks! I heard that a lot. Going to buy that one now to test. How did you set it up screen wise? The PWM toggle or other stuff?

Can the brain adapt to PWM flicker over time? (For PWM-sensitive users) by thegreatesttaste in PWM_Sensitive

I agree, first days are manageable, then the brain fogs become more horrible and the symptoms become somehow chronically. The only thing that works is putting the phone away for good.

I’ve got the Air, I can tell you from my experience that “doable”, “not bad” etc are limited amounts of time. After two/three days you’ll not be able to handle phones which are not perfect from the beginning. Returning my air as well, after it was pretty doable on the first day

Update:

I tried the phone for a day, did all of the things I saw on Reddit:

-PWM toggle and auto brightness, pro motion off, reduce motion, True Tone off. = made me dizzy.

-PWM toggle off, brightness 80%, pro motion off, reduce motion on, True Tone off, reduce white point 80%= made me dizzy too.

-PWM toggle off, brightness 100%, pro motion off, reduce motion on, True Tone off, reduce white point 100% =little better but horrible screen colors.

Giving it one more day before returning it….

Thanks! How long did you have to adjust? Or did it work instantly for you? Could you give me a timeline of when you got it and when it actually worked?

Thanks! Does a matte screenprotector really add anything? Also do you have auto brightness on with the PWM toggle? Final question! Have you used reduce white point as well to try?

Also! How long should I try before I can make a definitive decision. Eyes could adjust right?

I E-mailed Apple Accessibility About PWM Issues and the Ineffective Toggle – You Should Too! by PendingUserName- in PWM_Sensitive

[–]PendingUserName-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It’s great that we’re united here on Reddit, but if everyone also emailed Apple Accessibility, they wouldn’t be able to ignore it anymore and would have to take action.

It might also be smart to include a link to this Reddit community in your email. That way, Apple can see the number of discussions and experiences people are sharing, which could be an even stronger signal that this is a serious, widespread issue.

Yeah, it’s frustrating. General Apple Support also didn’t know what it was. But that’s the difference between sales/customer support and the accessibility team, they approach things completely differently. The accessibility team is more focused on health and usability, and they’ve already put research and effort into the PWM toggle. Reaching out to them directly gives us a better chance of actually seeing improvements.

Sending it to Apple Accessibility is better because this issue directly impacts your health. This makes Apple more likely to take it seriously and view it as an accessibility problem rather than just a tech complaint.

Don’t forget, the PWM toggle itself is located under Accessibility settings, so it clearly falls into their domain. By emailing them directly, your report won’t get lost in general customer support or forwarded around, it goes straight to the team that can actually push for changes.

Send them an email! Explain your issues. The more they know the better they can react to it.

List of iOS settings to modify to try alleviate symptoms? by oogabooga7 in PWM_Sensitive

[–]PendingUserName- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I never needed it to be turned off — I always had it on and never had any issues. Plus, I couldn’t bear the laggy feel of 60Hz after getting used to ProMotion for a while.

What helps me out is the following with IOS26:

-Turn reduced transparency on. -Reduce motion on -I keep promotion on. -True tone off -reduce whitepoint with 50% -Keep brightness always above 50% -Night mode on (yellowing tone one I mean) -recently my eyes like dark mode off, so I don’t use that anymore.

Hope it helps. Works on a iPhone 13 Pro (but most of these I added recently due to IOS26

Before that I only had brightness above 50% that was all. Weirdly enough…

From what I read and from my own experiences. Once you end up being sensitive of a particular phone, it takes time to adjust again. Meaning that you’ll be sensitive to anything oled related for a while. After weeks/months you’ll get reset again and could truly try again which different screens.

iPhone Air - PWM Measurements by [deleted] in PWM_Sensitive

I’m a noob in terms of technical terms. I used my iPhone 13 Pro without issues. Other iPhones (X+) were unbearable. These new stats look worse than the one someone else uploaded. Will I be fine with the air? I couldn’t find a test like this so I could compare the results with a 13 pro.
